Intro, fills, transitions not working

Some intros, fills, transistons and outros aren’t playing on the pedal (no sound) while they work perfectly on the editor. It’s happening with most of the new songs I’m making, the old ones are still working, any suggestions? Anyone has had a similar issue?

Hi there, please tell us the list of the songs that are having issues so we can look into it,

@DanielSingularSound will assist you from here,

Thanks for reporting

They’re songs that i made from scratch or edited, i can send you the song files by email. Can you send me you email please?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out! Please send all details to support@singularsound.com.

This is the error log when I open the REGGAE folder:
EDITED: compressed the error log into a zip file
Error Log.zip (2.2 KB)

Try downloading and unzipping a fresh copy of the Reggae file to your desktop

  • Delete the Reggae folder from your BBM or BBMO
  • Save your project
  • Import the newly downloaded Reggae
  • Save project
  • Sync to SD card
  • Try playing in the BB

All of my beats and fills play correctly in BBMO. It’s when they are played from the SD card that all but the fist fills are silent.

As I’m not experiencing what you are reporting, I just tried deleting the Reggae folder from the BBMO and after importing a freshly downloaded copy of the Reggae beats genre folder, I synched it to my SD card and played it on the pedal. I tried each beat from the folder with both the Standard and then the Reggae drum sets and they play all of the notes of the Intro, Drum Fills and Transitions. Some users report issues when they edit their beats or duplicate the beat and move to a different folder.

Sorry you’re continuing to have issues and hope you can take the time to provide some clarity.

Even after following the steps in the post directly above this one?
I’m trying to get some details that might be helpful for the developers.

Some additional questions:

  1. Are you using the BBMO to place the Reggae best in a BBMO Playlist?
  2. Are you using the BBMO to duplicate a Reggae beat and using the BBMO Move to… another folder?
  3. Which version of the firmware are you using on your pedal?
  4. If you use the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM), is this happening as well?
  5. If you are building a playlist, are you doing so on the pedal itself?
  6. What browser are you using for the BBMO? MS Edge, Vivaldi, Google Chrome?
  7. Are you editing any of the Reggae beats or using them “as is”?
  8. Are you using your computer built-in slot reader when you synchronize to your SD card or are you connecting your pedal to your computer using a USB cable. Although I have not verified this, some Meta users report that they have better luck when connecting the pedal via USB cable to their computer to synchronize with the SD card (instead of using their computer’s built-in slot reader).

@persist please let us look into this further internally, we think we know the issue and you do not have the fix on hand, it will require a fix to the BBMO which is underway, thanks for your patience guys!

I am creating my own song folder and copying the songs to it (duplicate and move). I am not using a playlist. Primarily I am using Edge, but I have tested this under Chrome and Opera. No difference.

It makes no difference whether I edit the copied song or use it as it was, the copy is silent on all fills except the first.

I am using my PC slot. I have not gone back to the original BBM, as it takes forever to open my project.

The firmware on the pedal is the latest 4.1.6.

The REGGAE 10 - BASIC SWUNG song plays all of its fills correctly in the original folder after I sync to the card (I also synced to a blank card with no change in what happened).

This only happens on a couple of songs that i have used, so it must be a problem with the data in the particular song file.

FYI - I am full-time .NET programmer, so if there is any suggested testing I can do, please let me know.

A new BBMO beta was just released that might resolve the issue you were experiencing. Please give it a try when you can. We recommend creating a new project just for the beta, or backing up your files before using it—just to be safe and avoid any data loss.

The Beta version works. The Reggae fills were carried over.

I had the same issue, and also with the Reggae song. The full steps I did to fix were:

  • On laptop, duplicate my project folder to make a backup of it
  • Open my project using the Beta BBMO link posted above
  • Download the Reggae song pack from the Individual Genres Backups page (Singular Sounds > Beat Buddy > Downloads > Individual Genres Backups - I didn’t know about this one – very useful!)
  • In BBMO, click the Import Song button and then browse to the Reggae song pack and import it
  • This loads it as an additional song Reggae (1) into the project
  • Delete original (corrupted) Reggae song and optionally rename that imported one to Reggae and re-order it where you want it
  • Sync to SD card

Fills working now!

Also since it sounds like importing/syncing using prior version of BBMO introduced the issue, planning to keep using the Beta BBMO until the Beta is released so I avoid re-introducing the issue.

Although they do play now, I found the fills themselves are still … wonky. Their time feel is off. The 3 I’ve noticed in particular are:

  • Reggae 1: fill # 2
  • Reggae 10: fills # 2 and # 3

Manually tried to fix them but only made them worse - I’m that bad at drums. Have deleted them for now and will figure out another option later after this w/e gig.

Does it also sound wonky when played through the BBMO (BeatBuddy Manager Online), or is it only an issue on the BeatBuddy pedal itself? If it works fine on BBMO but not on the pedal, please let us know — that might indicate a bug, and I’ll report it to the dev team.

If you feel the fills just don’t sound great in general, I can also pass that along as feedback for the team to review.

To me it sounds off on BBMO and pedal both, and the whole fill sounds slightly off to my ear both the initial and final hits, as though something in the re-import still doesn’t quite line up correctly. I recorded an example with Beta BBMO playing Reggae Beat 1 Fill #2 but but look like I can’t share Dropbox links in my posts. I can share it if there’s a better way.

Btw, BBMO is such an amazing app. As a frontend dev, I’m super impressed with how intuitive and powerful it is. It’s really a joy to work with. Absolutely unlocks the potential of the BeatBuddy being able to import, duplicate, move, edit beats. It’s so smooth and responsive, with great usability features like folding in the edit track. And the pedal image being the UI to test all the beats is brilliant. Killer killer software.

Thank you for your kind words! We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying BBMO. Could you please send the video to support@singularsound.com so we can take a closer look at the issue? Thanks again!

Cool, sent!
