I downloaded the premium library and saved to 16 GB SD card, getting “invalid SD” message. Sandisc Extreme. Do I need to unzip the folder before inserting into BB? The card was already formatted and other data is on it. Please advise.
Check that your SD card is
-
not locked
-
is an SDHC card—not an SDXC
-
formatted as FAT32
-
You need to unzip the zipped file with the premium library content to a folder on your desktop.
-
Use the BBMO to Open Project, navigate to your folder on your desktop, select it, press Open and then Edit Files
-
Check that the songs play in the BBMO
-
Place the SD card in your Mac’s SD slot reader (or connect to an external USB media reader)
-
If you don’t have any data on the SD card that you need, select the contents of the SD card and delete them and then Empty Trash
-
Use the BBMO Sync to SD card
-
Eject your SD card and insert in your unpowered pedal and then power it back up
-
If this still doesn’t work, try the 4Gb SD card that came with your pedal.
So an XC card won’t work? If so I guess I’ve just found the answer I’m looking for
Although I’ve never tried it, you might be able to get the XC card to work formatted to FAT 32. Let us know if that works.
I’ll give it a go
Replying because I have the same problem. Using the SD Card that came with my BeatBuddy, I tested it and it worked.
Then, I loaded the premium pack on it. Now, I have Invalid SD card error. I have erased, reformatted as Fat32, and attempted to put the firmware on the SD card. I have used both BBMO and my computer file manager to try and move the files to the SD Card. I have tried the most recent firmware and the prior version as well, erasing the SD card each time. Help!!! It was so cool to use it, and now I can’t.
This has really been a perplexing problem for some users.
Two tips to get you started and then a series of steps to try and get your pedal and project working properly
- avoid using iCloud for your computer Documents and Desktop folders
- avoid connecting your pedal via the USB cable method; use your built-in slot reader or an external USB media reader.
Series of steps: (please try these steps in order).
- download and unzip a fresh copy of the Default Content Backup 2.1 to your desktop. BeatBuddy Default Content (SD backup).
- Insert your unlocked SD card in your computer slot reader or external USB media reader.
- select all content in your SD card and Move to Trash; Empty Trash. NOTE: do not use Disk Utility to ERASE your SD card.
- verify using CMD-Info that your SD card format is FAT32; if not, use Disk Utility to ERASE and set format to MS-DOS (FAT32).
- use the BBMO 1.5.5 (beta) to open the project folder you just downloaded and unzipped to your desktop: BeatBuddy Default Content 2.1 - Project BeatBuddy Manager Online BETA 1.5.5
- Use the BBMO (I use Vivaldi) to Sync to SD Card; when done, eject the SD card
- with power off on your BeatBuddy (BB) pedal, insert the SD card in your pedal
- power your pedal on
Still getting an INVALID SD CARD error message? Please reply with your results. If it still does not work, you’ll ultimately have to contact Support, support@singularsound.com for help.
If you do get it working, recommend not putting the Premium Library Content on a 4Gb SD card, rather, try using a larger, SDHC 32Gb class 10 card.
I am testing a possible fix by making an image of a working (on my Mac) 4Gb SD card with the BeatBuddy Default Content 2.1 - Project and should have it available this weekend. Depending on your progress, I’ll make it available for download with instructions on how to get the image on your 4Gb SD card.
@persist You are a hero! Thank you!!!
Your instructions are so clear, they should be what everyone uses. I can see where I went wrong in a few ways. I’m going to be saving this post for future reference for other packs, etc.
