I’m having an issue synchronizing my BB Mgr project file to my SD card. When I hit Synchronize project, it runs gets to 51% complete, freezes then the following message appears. Can anyone help me out?
First check to make sure you don’t have any illegal characters in song names or drum kit names. In songs, the most frequent illegal character is a period, i.e. “Mrs. Robinson, or 10th Ave. Freeze Out.” In a drum kit, it might happen when there is a string of instrument names, like STAX drum, bass, piano & brass. I had one kit with a glockenspiel where I screwed up and used a comma. These odd characters affect the .csv file that BBM uses to organize everything. Some folks avoid special characters altogether. I have found that in song titles, apostrophes and parentheses are OK. Ampersands are OK drum kit names. But, if you recently added anything with a special character, fix that first.
Assuming you have all that OK, just abort the Sync. Then try using Export>Project to SD card. When it asks you if you want to overwrite, select yes or ok.
On a Mac, the Sync almost never works. And the export will take a bit longer than sync. Be patient. Once you complete the export, restart the program, on a PC, my guess is your sync will then work.
Of course, this also presumes you have sufficient space on your SD card. Your project does not look very large, but if you’ve added all of my drumkits, you are starting to use some space. The BB will handle an SD card up to 32gb.
Hey Phil, I did not change the name of any of the drum kits I imported so should be good there although the error message specifically refers to a drumset. I also didn’t use any illegal characters when slightly renaming song files - merely spelling corrections and deleting the v2, v3 etc. extensions. I tried the Export>Project to SD and it ran, got through the drums but then stopped with an error message about importing the WAVE files. I’m about to lose my s**t with the BB. Now I don’t have files on my SD cause I overroad what was there! Ughhhhhhhhh
OK, you still have your project on your computer. So your files are there. What did the error message say?
Also, assuming that your BBManager is still working, export your folders, one by one to a back up location. You do this through BB manager. File>Export folder. That will keep a copy of everything intact in case your have to reformat the card and redo your workspace.
If you have your folders backed up, you can use the General Disaster Recovery Procedures to get everything back in place. Follow the procedures, and once you have the card back to factory state with latest firmware and content, you can restart BBM, set up a workspace, and then import the missing folders and drumkits.
This is more than likely your issue: how many drum sets do you have active in your project? All 29 of Phil Flood’s? If this is what you’re trying to do and you have a 4Gb SD card, the sync is choking once it reaches the capacity of your card.
I think youre right. I have all of his kits, additional library kits and a gew more from the forum. I also noticed that suddenly songs ive downloaded/imported are suddenly gone after teying to sync. This has happened 2X which had me think that the card is fuĺl. I tried to see what space is left on the card but my trying to import to SD then abort wiped out my yard. Oh the trials and teibulations
Had to leave it alone for a while or it would have gone throigh a window. Ill remove some kits and song files then see whats up, if it will sync.
Well man, you nailed it! Absolutely correct. Removed song kits and bunch of songs and BINGO… all good and synced! Phewwww. Thx to both you and Phil! I’m learning guys, I’m learning
