Hi,
I’ve been trying to use mambo pattern in one of my songs but want to add bass as well. Tried rock with bass and a few other kits but everything sounds awful for mambo pattern when you use other kits. I was hoping someone had Latin 1.2 kit with bass. Help please
The Latin kit is 92.5Mb which means there is no room to add bass notes for the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) and BBMO mode 1 which limits the drum set size to 100Mb. The BBMO mode 2 would accommodate an increased size kit but it would only be playable on the BB2 pedal.
You have a couple of options:
- try the LATIN Marimba & Strings kit, or
- the SUB-Std Pro PL Bass 0-31 kit
Both kits have many but not all of the instruments of the Latin drum set.
thank you v much. i think the sub std pro 0-31 is going to work with a lot of mapping

Hi,
I’ve ended up changing drumset again, now using NP std bass 63-91 which sounds great but the bass has lots of echo/reverb on it, it’s the same problem with 0-31 kit too. Is this just how the bass sounds that comes with the drumset or can I do anything about it?
That’s just the way these particular kits were made.
I found some threads on here saying you can put a silent note in or put the bass notes in a choke group and change the polyphony but couldn’t get this to work. is there no way to shorten the bass notes?
It sounds like you have the note off issue where the bass notes continue to ring or sound stuck and that’s what’s giving you that reverb or echo sound when your bass notes play.
IIRC, this note off issue might still happen when using the MIDI Editor in the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM). If you’re going to try to create or edit patterns, it’s best to use either a DAW or the BeatBuddy Manager Online (BBMO).
First, check the bass notes in the kit, and verify that they are set as “non-percussion.” If they somehow got set as percussion, this echoing will happpen.
its NP std bass 63-91 kit and they’re all set to non percussion
is original beat buddy manager no good now?
Singular Sound has stated that the BBM is a legacy app and is no longer supported (meaning development and bug repairs). You can continue to use is as long as your computer operating system supports it. Since it’s an Intel-based app, starting next year, it will no longer work on Silicon Macs running Tahoe or newer.
The BBM is adequate to the task and you can continue to use it. I think Phil_Flood prefers it for developing drum sets. However, the BBM is quite buggy and the built-in MIDI Editor is known to cause problems and is at best only suitable for very light editing and not much more. If you’re exporting songs from the BBM and you want to try them in the BBMO, suggest you try using the latest beta of the BBMO, located here: latest beta here
Actually, I’ve gone all-in on BBMO. The only thing I use BBM for is to get samples out of exiting drum kits. I don’t know if there is a way to extract the wav files from a kit in BBMO.

I’ve been trying to get BBMO up and running but when I click open project it doesn’t seem to find any of the folders where I’ve stored BBM projects on my hard drive. It will let me create a new project and import drum sets individuallly but that seems nuts to have to do that
I’ll give you a couple of options and you can choose which one works best for you. Based on your choice I’ll provide you the steps to resolve your issue.
OPTIONS
- If your older BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) has a project with lots of custom songs and drum sets that you can’t live without.
- If you don’t mind getting a fresh start with a clean project to use with the BBMO.
Let me know and I’ll tailor the steps.
It has to be option 1. I’ve edited loads of patterns and added drum sets etc
Okay, then. Here we go with the first option.
- I am assuming you are still able to open your original project using the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM).
- Launch the BBM and if your original project opens, you’re going to use the BBM - File - Save Project As and you’re going to save the project to your desktop so you can use it more easily with the BBMO.
- At the top of your Explorer or Finder Window where it says Save As: enter a new and different name than what your current project is named.
- It may take a while to save your project and especially if you have a lot of songs, folders and drum sets. Allow it to finish. You should have a folder on your desktop with the “New Name - Project”
- When the process is done, quit your BBM.
- Open the [BBMO v2.0.7 (2026-03-13) beta in your browser, select Open Project and navigate to and select—do not open the folder—on your desktop; press Select and then Allow.
- Your BBMO project should now open.
- Test your songs to make sure they open and play.
If you can’t open your original project in step 1, use the Windows Explorer or macOS Spotlight to locate your original project. Search for *.bbp and that should lead you to the folder holding your project.
Let me know if and where you run into problems.
I tried following these instructions but got error
you can’t open this location using this program
please try a different location
think I’ve got it now. it was saving it as a hidden folder. why??
If you’re using the BBMO this could be an artifact of the good old days of the BBM and Windows. I believe there was a time (several years ago) when the developers didn’t want users using the computer operating system to work directly with the BB files so they made some of the bbworkspace folders and files invisible.
Those BBM and BBMO folders & files should be visible on your computer. If they’re not, you can change the attributes to unite them.
