Looking for some midi IO advice setting up my fist pedal board. BB-2, Loop Studio and GT-1000 core

HI, I’m setting up my first ever pedal board.

It will consist of the Beat buddy 2, Loop studio which both arrived this week and the Boss GT 1000-Core (Currently in the shopping cart) and would appreciate some advice on which cables to purchase for the midi IO side of things as the complexity of everything at once is overwhelming.

I mistakenly bought the midi adapter for the original Beat Buddy while it looks like regular 6 pin midi cables are now used, while the Boss Gt-1000 requires a TRS to midi cable.

Here is my shopping list for Cables (Tried to upload a picture of my cart but it wont allow images)

: Midi adapter (TRS Type A (3.5mm - 1/8”) to 5-pin DIN) to connect the GT-1000-Core to the BB-2

: 5 pin midi cables to connect the BB-2 to the Loop Studio (1-foot length)

I’m sure I’m missing something, it’s just I’m stupefied by everything and would appreciate any advice on what else I will likely need to complete the board on the IO side of things.

Unrelated, but as for the learning curve regarding setting up the BB and LS I would like to do it mostly offline using the offline BB manager if I can (hate being connected) and have downloaded 40 odd tutorials from YT so I can separate myself entirely from the internet. It’s the whole reason I’m building the pedal board in the first place to get away from computers which should in theory make this mental mountain all worth it. Thankfully there are ton’s of videos out there.

Download the Aeros manual if you haven’t done so already: Printer Friendly Manual

p5 and p172 will give you a pretty good idea of what cables will be needed between your pedals for both audio and MIDI. Consider a MIDI controller as well such as the MIDI Maestro. You’ll find that it will help you better integrate and control all 3 pedals.

About your intent to use the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM), a lot of users feel the same way as you do about a web application. However, if you’re using the macOS, it’s only a matter of time before Mac’s Silicon computers will drop support for the BBM. Since it’s not being actively supported, you might be better off starting with the BBMO. Depending on your browser, you can always convert a web-based app to a standalone app. Look up PWA on Vivaldi. You can also use Unite to convert the app from web- to standalone.

Of course you can always reach out to Support, support@singularsound.com for any help you might need with your configuration.

Mate, you’re a legend.

I ended up going with the Gt-1000 along with the proper (I think) cables but more importantly your suggestion to use an app to isolate the online editor worked well in the end.

I tried a few methods (all failed) and it took me hours to get it in the end trying out various apps, but the app that did work in the end is called Pake, and it’s the only one that will handle redirects for logging in. So not technically offline, but it allows me to use my ColdTurkey app to shut down all my browsers, so I’m not wasting time procrastinating on the web.

Because there are no links are allowed here the YT video is titled “Turn Websites into Apps with Pake – How to Install Pake Easy Tutorial”

Basically it’s not ripping the software it’s just creating a browser for the website as a stand alone website in isolation so you can’t wander off wasting time on social media. You still need your email to log in (via a code) by I have a windows standalone app for that too so no need for a typical browser with everything else to distract me.

Now I can download every single YT Beat buddy editor tutorial to watch offline while also having the app to utilise.

Hope this is helpful to other people who have similar issues with internet addiction.
