I modified some code to create a midi file examiner. It can tell you how many Note On events, and other events if you want, exist in the file. It can easily be modified to show what actual notes, etc, are in the file. It really helped me in figuring out what Reaper and Aria and other programs were actually putting into these midi files.
For whatever reason, they don’t allow .java files being uploaded, so i changed the suffix.
