My MM switches make a couple different noises when pressed. I get either a clunk or a squeak, sometimes both. These are physical sounds not audio in the signal chain. Can I use a squirt of WD40 to quiet these? Has anyone done this? Is there something else I can use to quiet the switch function?
I’ve tried WD-40 on mine before, but honestly, it didn’t make much difference. They’ve come out with a “gold” version since that’s completely silent… but that means buying basically the same thing all over again. And sadly, you can’t even swap the switches—they’re not compatible.

To help get rid of the squeakiness, rather than use WD-40, try cleaning the switch with a couple blasts of compressed air and then a touch of DeOXit . Can't access the settings menu! - #8 by MarkF48. Make sure you exercise the switch a few times to work it in.

As for the clunk sound, make sure that the switch is not loose in its mounting. The switches on the non-Gold devices tend to be louder. You can try measuring and cutting a small block of foam to place inside the Maestro enclosure to deaden some of the sound. YMMV
