MIDI Maestro with TONEX pedal

I have a MIDI Maestro to control my BeatBuddy, and the BB page works as expected.

I use an iPad with Bandhelper connected to the MM with BTLE, changing song presets to choose tempo, drumset, etc. This seems to be working fine.

I have a Tonex pedal (the big pedal using 5-pin MIDI) and a TC Helicon Voicelive 3 Extreme, daisy chained with MIDI Thru from the Tonex pedal (the VL3X seems to be fine).

When I select a different part for the BeatBuddy, either on the MM or the BB pedal, it turns off the current Tonex preset, changing the green LED to yellow. As is, I can switch to a different preset with the switches on the Tonex and then switch back, but it essentially mutes my guitar when I switch the BB to a different part.

My initial troubleshooting shows that Control Change 113 is supposed to be used by MM to switch pages. The Tonex supposedly uses CC113 to switch microphone models per-preset, but it needs CC12 to do what it is actually doing according to IK Multimedia’s manual (Preset on or off).

The trouble is that I can see by using MIDI Ox to monitor MIDI messages, when I change parts on MM or BB, it is sending CC71 (which is supposed to switch Reverb Time on TONEX)(I’m a little dizzy at this point).

It’s probably time for me to create a ticket, but:

-What CC should MM be sending when changing Parts?
-Does anyone have any experience with controlling a Tonex pedal with a MM and BB before it?

Hello!

CC:113 is indeed the correct MIDI message for transitioning parts on the BeatBuddy. Could you try setting up your BeatBuddy to communicate on a different MIDI channel than your other gear? This can help avoid any interference and might resolve the issue. Give it a try and let me know if it helps!

Thanks so much.

While I’m sorting this out, I’m still wondering why it should be CC113 when MIDI Ox shows CC71 when changing Parts on either MIDI Maestro or BB pedal. I’m going to try other ways to monitor MIDI.

This seems to happen with all MIDI channels, but I’m still checking. I have all devices working on their own MIDI channel.
