Hi,
I recently integrated BeatBuddy Manager Online with Songbook Pro using MIDI commands, and the system works extremely well for live performance. Selecting a song in Songbook Pro instantly loads the corresponding BeatBuddy song, which has dramatically improved live requests and transitions.
However, I discovered a major issue with the current BBMO sorting behavior.
Each song in Songbook Pro is mapped manually using MIDI events such as:
CC0:0
CC32:1
PC:8
This corresponds to:
-
Folder/bank selection
-
Song position within that folder
Because BeatBuddy MIDI song recall is tied directly to folder/song position, using the A→Z or Z→A sort function in BBMO changes the MIDI locations of all songs. This immediately invalidates all previously programmed Songbook Pro mappings.
In my case, I have nearly 200 songs programmed manually, with 3 MIDI events per song. A single accidental sort operation could undo hours of setup work.
I would like to request one of the following features:
-
Option to disable or lock the sort function
-
Option to “freeze” MIDI song/folder assignments independent of display order
-
Warning prompt before sorting that informs users MIDI mappings may change
Currently, the only workaround is renaming every song with fixed numeric prefixes (001, 002, etc.) to preserve order during sorting, which is cumbersome and reduces readability on the BeatBuddy screen.
I believe many live performers using external MIDI controllers or apps such as Songbook Pro would benefit from a way to preserve stable MIDI addressing regardless of sorting operations.
Thanks for considering the request.
Scott
