Midi output off/disable clock CC option?

Can I turn off the BB midi output/sync with a midi controller going into the BB midi input? Sometimes I use my looper freely with no sync; other times I use BB with sync on for drum loops. Trying to disable the BB clock signal going to my looper (Boomerang 3). To achieve this currently, I have to unplug the midi cable.

Do you mean that is there such midi command that could be used by the midi controller?

You’re not interested that does BB have such settings that you can toggle manually, right? :thinking:

My understanding is that there is no such midi command for BB :neutral_face:

Would be super easy to DIY build, but this etsy seller seems to be building and selling a MIDI kill footswitch that ‘should’ do what you want. Some indication of ON or OFF would have been nice, but for the price it is what it is. Never had any experience buying from etsy, so not sure how safe it is.

Correct. I was checking if it’s mappable to a midi cc since it is an option in the menu. Or maybe Singular can add it.

Yes, I saw a midi kill switch. Only catch is having another pedal on the board but that would do it.

Not sure if this would work for you and there may other ways to do this.

In BBM or BBMO create a song that has a main drum loop, but no MIDI notes selected.

I picked a song in one of my projects and removed all loops (fills, intros,and outtros) except the main drum loop. I then went to the MIDI editor and cleared all the note data in the main loop. I then saved this edited project to an SD card. While I don’t have an external clock to start the BB, using the foot switch will start the empty song, but no sound will be produced since there are no MIDI notes to play the drum sounds. When you use the looper freely/no sync just select the null song.

Interesting idea but that still sends clock, 115bpm is being sent even though you don’t hear it. It will force the looper to lock onto 115.

There is a midi output setting to send clock only when BB is playing and not when it’s off or paused.

Would this work for you? With this you could sync when beat is playing and no sync when it’s not playing :yum:

You wouldn’t even need midi controller, just use outro or pause. If you don’t have external footswitch the you can send the pause via midi (or outro) :thinking:
