I purchased this in 2021. It was love at first sight with a brilliant huge screen and quality build. This had to be the best looper on the planet. I eagerly printed out the manual and sat down to figure this thing out.
So much to love. Aux inputs/outputs, routable. Wonderful scroll wheel. Foot or desk operation…
Ok, touchscreen maybe a bit laggy, and takes ages to boot, but I can live with that.
I understand everyone’s workflow is different. I primarily wanted to use this looper as a song-writing tool, with old school Verse/Chorus/Bridge, so the 6 parts are useful, and maybe I can get away with 2 tracks with guitar & bass. Be nice if I could choose a Parts x Track grid. 5 x 2 would suit me.
Rhythm-wise, I use a Digitech SDRUM…only the pads. Triggering with guitar is a bit iffy, but the pads work great. I had the Beat-Buddy for a while, but by the time I found a drum pattern to suit my song, I forgot what the song was. The SDRUM is like an extension of your brain. You think of a beat, activate the pads, and BOOM…you’re off. It will also take care of the Chorus & Bridge in one hit, and you can fine tune, even alter the Tempo on all 3 parts. It syncs perfectly with Aeros, and I have done YouTube video on it.
So I’m working away (6x6), making mistakes etc. I keep confusing the Next Track and Next Part buttons. Lets see, the tracks display vertically…ok, I get that…round indicators. But the parts also display vertically…small square indicators. But actually, my parts are coming at me horizontally. Wouldn’t it be more logical if the squares were in order at the top of the screen? Be nice too if they were rectangles that I could name. Well, ok, it is what it is. I just need to get my brain in gear and start thinking about vertical parts.
As I mentioned, I keep making errors. Buggered up that track. Damn. I’ll just delete it. Hmm…how do I delete? Oh…I cant? I can only redo? But its messing up my screen…Ok…I need to re-record that track anyway…redo will be fine.
Damn…keep hitting Part button instead of track. I’ll just delete it. Oh…cant be deleted. Doesnt matter, I got rid of the audio in it. But hang on…I have to scroll through it to get back to part one? And if I inadvertently add parts 4/5 &6 I have to scroll through all those? I cant remove them from the screen?
Lets study the manual. I can delete the last part. What about parts 3,4 & 5. Oh…they stay.
Phew…lucky I been saving as I go along. I will just delete everything and reload the song.
WTF…my saved song has gone!!! What the hell…
The other issue I reported on a while back was the saving song which lost one of the tracks, and doubled up on the other one. I put the Aeros in the cupboard until that was sorted, it seems, with V5.3 Beta.
So, gone back to my trusty RC-500 at the moment. I can save my parts as memories, name each one, and toggle between parts with a footswitch. If I bugger up a track I can delete it, ditto with a memory.
Looks like I will never get this Aeros to work like I want, so it will collect dust on the shelf until I decide to sell.
Pity because I want to love it…
