how do I format my new SD card for use
In my BB2? I know it may be simple but I’ve never even knew I had a file app on my IPhones I’ve had. I need a back up card. I want to use the BBM or BBMO can I do this with my iPhone?
If it’s a new SDHC CL 10 card 4-32Gb, it’s already properly formatted.
Thanks @persist if it needs to be deleted that’s fine. I just can’t seem to get how my BB2 and my IPhone will work together with this BB2 and the BBMO. I copied the 4 gb sd card to my iPhone with a USBC to SD card reader. Do I just copy those files to my new SD card. They’ve mentioned a BBFF site, but I’d rather not have to pay for that right now, and try to get on the BBM website for now.
The card I bought is totally compliant with the other SD card.
Now my BB2 SD card has been erased. Can anyone tell me how many files are on the stock 4 go SD card. I’m thinking that I had saw 7? I think when I copied the card to my iPhone 15 pro max I saw one file had 7 and another one I uploaded to iPhone files had 8, but I think I created an empty folder in one. I didn’t think I was going to be like this dumb at 69 years old.![]()
BBMO or BBMO2 will not work on your iPhone (or an iPad, if you have one).
If you are going to use just an iPhone, the BBFF remains your only option for adding to or editing songs and drum sets to your BB2.
This is a screen shot of the content of your BeatBuddy_2_Default_Content_v1.2-Project_SD_Card
The BeatBuddy pedals were designed to and require the use of software applications (the BBMO 2 for desktop computers or the BBFF for iPhones and iPads) to manage the content on the pedals. Using your iPhone’s operating system to try to manage the content is analogous to trying to force your phone to work without the operating system. ![]()
Randy, probably not something you want to hear, but I think your best option to manage content and files for the BB2 may be a laptop with Windows 10. Refurbished/renewed laptops with Win10 can be found online at pretty reasonable prices. Not sure if a refurb Mac laptop would cost a lot more or not. Some may have a slot for an SD card, but if not an external USB SD card reader is pretty cheap. The Windows 10 operating system will allow you to use the latest BBMO for the BB2 using a web browser. You also would be able use a DAW (digital audio workstation) to create and edit MIDI files that are used in the BB2.
I do have tablets and phones with Android OS’s and I can’t image trying to use those to manage content for my BB. Your iPhone may be more capable than Android’s, but still may be challenging to use.
I’m 77 and still play around with all this stuff. Sometimes I get stuck, but half the ‘fun’ is figuring it all out. Google and Youtube are my best friends. I like to think it keeps my mind sharp
.
Hope you get it all working!!!
This link is for Dell refurbished laptops, but there are other retailers that could be less cost
Is there any other place to download the Bb2 SD card if my files have gotten trashed or corrupted? @persist @MarkF48
This link will download the BB2 SD card content. It is a ‘zip’ file that will need to be ‘unzipped’/decompressed to be able to copy over to the SD card.
@MarkF48 @persist I have both of my 4gb SD cards up and both running the Beatbuddy 2.
I have a 32 gb card, does it need to have the same files copied on the card when I get ready to use it on the BB2 when I get a tower or a laptop Mac, or a windows computer. Is Windows 10 that will not be receiving updates from Microsoft?
Correct, Windows 10 will not receive updates after Oct 2025, but that does not affect how it functions. Not sure sometime in distant future the browsers that Win10 uses may not get updates which may affect BBMO2 revisions/updates, but I suspect that should be pretty far off. My primary PC is on Windows 7 Pro. I cannot run BBMO on it because the main browsers I use won’t load it as the browsers have stopped doing updates, so I stick with the original BBM which is installed on that PC. There are a few reasons I’m not fond of browser based tools like BBMO(2), but that’s what Singular has chosen to do.
Same files can go onto the 32gb card as on your 4gb cards
Have you used the BBFF on your phone or computer setup. I just hate the idea that I have to spend $35 for the BBFF program after paying $650+ dollars for the BB2 and Superswitch. Then there’s the high priced HD and Boutique drum kits. It will truly be a money maker for Singular Sound, and I’m not a disgruntled customer because I love the BB2 and the Superswitch. It will make my music sound a lot more appealing for me and my family and friends. I’m just an old retiree living of my pension with high priced hobbies.![]()
Nope, have not used BBFF, so no I haven’t used anything phone related. I have no interest in buying something if I can do what I need to do with something free. I have the original BB that I bought back in 2017 ($265!) along with the special MIDI cable and have pretty much only used the original BBM to manage content. My primary computer is Windows 7 Pro, so BBMO won’t work on it. I have played around with BBMO on a Win10 laptop, but for what I do the original BBM does what I need.
Food for thought…. put your BB2 on a stand so the controls can be reached easily and control start, stop, fills, and other functions with the Superswitch. You’ll save wear and tear on the switches in the BB2 and won’t be bending over a lot to tweak knobs.
The original BB I have has a decent variety of drums, but I did purchase a few from SS back when I first got the BB. Also some of the MIDI beats collections as well. I also have Toontracks EZDrummer 3 that I use in my DAW program. I wanted a good collection of MIDI beats that I could use with that and the BB, so I purchased a collection from GrooveMonkee which has more than I’ll probably ever use. The MIDI beats from GrooveMonkee come in several formats for different drum programs as well PBF files designed for the BB.
Hi @RandyLCox I just want to point out that the BBFF app is not a Singular Sound product. I am the developer and the app was developed for foot-free and bend-free use of your Beat Buddy.
What it does not do:
- It does not let you edit BeatBuddy content from your phone
- It does not let you make changes to your SD card from your phone
What it does do:
- Quickly find or search for songs and load them
- Displays all the parts for a song and allow you to jump directly to parts you need
- Switch out drum kits for a loaded song
- Change the tempo of the loaded song
- Control your BeatBuddy from your phone
You don’t have to spend money on the app. It’s not necessary for full use or enjoyment of your BeatBuddy. If you are interested in having a look. I’ve been working on an updated version and you can try the beta of the app on iOS for free, see BBFF 2.0 Beta (for BB 2.0)
In your specific case, as a retiree enjoying music as a hobby, you should really consider investing in the BBFF program despite the additional cost. Here’s why:
- Significant simplification: BBFF is designed to make using the BB2 and Superswitch much more intuitive and seamless. This means less time struggling with equipment and more time playing and creating music.
- Increased enjoyment: By making your setup easier to manage, BBFF allows you to focus more on your music, enhancing the experience not only for you but also for your family and friends.
- Long-term value: Although the price may seem high initially, having an integrated, optimized system can prevent technical frustrations, save time, and extend the enjoyment of your existing gear.
Of course, this purchase depends on your budget, but in terms of musical experience and convenience, it could truly be worth it for you. It would provide you with greater satisfaction and ease in your musical leisure time, which is invaluable, especially in retirement.
@andrew13 Andrew the app is asking for a 6 digit number to be accepted for the BBFF BETA. What do I need to do?
Thanks @Marco76 I appreciate your advice because I really don’t want the aggravation of trying to be what I’m not and that’s a drummer I do appreciate the members who are able and willing to spend time learning all the hoops to be able for us to have the song availability that we have. @andrew13 do I need the beta version or the older version. I don’t mind helping with the beta version if you might need people to help with that 2,00 version.?
@RandyLCox my suggestion is you use the beta because you can try that out for free through the TestFlight app (I haven’t come across the six-digit requirement).
I’m hoping to wrap the release up in early December but the beta is feature complete.
Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions.
It’s was never about the BBFF app, it was about having just spending $650 for BB2 and SuperSwitch. Finding out that the BBM and BBMO did not really cater to IPHONE and that was my fault for not having not researched the BB2 enough to understand the limitations. I would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction for the ability to learn and understand the BBFF app more clearly.
Thanks @RandyLCox
I’ve already bought the BBFF app a few hours ago, but if it’s still possible, I’d like to be able to help with the BBFF beta version 2.00. Just let me know. I’ll find out where the DM location is and start using it when it’s called for. @RandyLCox
