Hey @Guitar_Stu

What is the recommended drumkit?
I tried many but it sounds without bass.

Rgrds

The clue is within the song itself. See the * (asterisk) beside the kit name? That’s the kit the song was made with.

Try searching for it on the forum to see if you can come up with it. Once you download it, use the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) to Import > Drum Set then click on the Drum Sets tab, scroll to the bottom of the list and check the box. Save your project. Try playing the song. If the bass still does not sound, quit the BBM and then reopen and try to play again.

HINT: this is what the advanced search results turn up: https://forum.singularsound.com/search?expanded=true&q=rock%20with%20bass%20%40Guitar_Stu%20%23user-generated-content%3Adrum-kits and the kit is within the 3d post.

Hey Persist,

The thing is where can I found that drumkit?

I searched in the forum but appears an alternative that I had installed, it sounds great but without bass.

Hi Stu, this sounds great and thank you! However the intro needs to be doubled to match the song. I’m trying to edit the MIDI file in Logic, but I’m a noob and you’re clearly quite facile with this.

Not sure Guitar Stu is hanging around the forum any more. Give him a day or two to reply and if he doesn’t, I’ll see what I can do.

When I attempt to install this using BBMO, no error is reported, but the song also doesn’t import. I saw this on another older file by Guitar_Stu (When I Come Around by Green Day).

Is there anything we can do to get these working with BBMO?

I just tried and failed to import it into the BBMO so I imported it into the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) and it worked.

Then I exported it from the BBM and tried to import it into the BBMO and I was prompted asking if I wanted to overwrite it. Hmm. Something weird going on here so don’t know if it’s a problem with the song or with the BBMO.

Try to import it again, save your project and quit your browser. Launch the BBMO and see if it shows up now. If not, you can try my export of the same song from the BBMO. Let us know how you got it working.

I also noticed that the initial download of the song was 769Kb but my export of the same song is now 1.5Mb.

If you’ll post the name of the other song, I’ll test it too.

Smells Like Teen Spirit with Bass.sng (1.4 MB)

Thanks, @persist

I again tried to import the original with BBMO, saved (it seems to recognize a change, even if it didn’t show up in GUI). Then closed and re-opened BBMO - still no song, and no error when I tried to import again.

I then gave yours a try and it imported just fine!

Alas, it’s unclear to me what drumset it wants. I see what I assume to be the bass lines (64-74) with a type of “Unknown”. Not hearing any bass when attempting to play in BBMO. Any clue what drumset it wanted when you got it into BBM?

Edit - at least getting some bass output when I selected a drumset I had “SUB-Std Pro PL Bass 62-91” - will play on the real BeatBuddy tonight; thanks!

You should be able to scroll thru the BBMO dropdown menu for drum sets and the one that’s required for the song should have an asterisk in the title. However, if the drum set has not yet been imported to the BBMO, that may not hold true (I have not tested it). That asterisk tip works in the BBM whether the kit has been imported or not to the BBM—you can see it in the Default Deumset: field. Check out my screen shot in one of the posts above.

Scroll back up thru this thread to posts 3/11 and 4/11 to find a link to the kit (Rock with Bass).

Thank you again @persist; apologies for asking a question clearly answered on the very thread I was replying to.

I’ll say in BBMO there was not a drumset that had an asterisk for the .sng you uploaded (as I’ve seen in others).

There does seem something funky about certain older song files… similar issue with another forum post [Green Day - When I Come Around with Bass 2018.03.09 - Green Day - When I Come Around with Bass]

Unfortunately, BBM crashes on my Mac, so I’m stuck in BBMO.

Thanks. Guess that answers that lingering question I had.

This would not surprise me as Guitar_Stu was probably the user that came up with the one-press with bass hack of the BeatBuddy during the early days. Probably attributable to the earliest versions of the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM).

I’ll post When I Come Around with Bass in a few days.
