Not seeing Aeros in Mac Finder after updating to 5.03

where in the mac (Catalina) finder should i see the updated aeros 5.03 folders and files? they don’t seem to be showing up.
I have said “no” to converting the songs.
Thanks!

It should be connected to the computer and then turned on, make sure the SD is not inserted or it will open the SD directory. If you do not turn it on after connecting, the computer will not read the Aeros until it is rebooted while connected.

Hi - I should have made it clearer that I followed the instructions and did that process a few times and it still didnt show up for me. I did have to use a USB extension cable (which works fine for my other uses), but maybe that’s an issue with this, so I have ordered a long mini usb cable for this. If it does show up, where in the Finder would I see it? (i did hunt around quite a bit, but I guess possible I missed it?)

FWIW, NOTE: I did also try restarting the aeros when connected to USB with the SD card in, and I didn’t see the SD directory on the imac, either.

PS - Midi song select is working, but I get an error every time that says: "main-midi-SongSelectByIdFailed-none-found message

but the song usually opens anyway… sometimes i have to resend the command from onsong and it opens on 2nd attempt.

Note - when i start the Aeros, I have to pick the songs folder…Once i see aeros from my iMac, will I need to move songs out of that folder? Could that have something to do with the error message?

Thanks!

On my end, I am able to connect my Aeros to my Mac on Catalina 10.15.7 using USB. Please note it does take time until it fully boots up for the Aeros to show up in the Finder. Please make sure you are allowing time for the connection to be established.

This is unrelated to your other issue, we will look into this

hi - thank you for getting back!
I have left it connected to 2 different computers for over an hour… still not seeing it
also tried downloading the 5.0.3 file again and re-updated and don’t see it

tried a couple cables, too, but getting a new one tomorrow just to make sure it’s not something stupid like that. Will let you know if that fixes anything.

Best,
Scott

Some different ways to find the Aeros when it’s plugged in:

  • as an icon on your desktop;
  • open a Finder window and scroll down the left sidebar;
  • open Disk Utility to see if it’s mounted; if you see the Aeros but it’s grayed out, you can try clicking on the Mount button in Disk Utility.
    Note: use the PSU that came with your Aeros; it should mount in <30 seconds.

From your latest post, it sounds like you’re on the right track by checking all of your cables. While waiting on new cables, you could test the existing ones with another pedal such as the BeatBuddy (BB).

Hi - new micro usb cable did the trick… I can see aeros by itself and I can see SD when that’s plugged in. Weird that the other cables worked for other things, but at least now up and running with that new feature… thanks for your patience!

I’ve found I have a few micro USB cables that are for power/charging only and won’t pass data and there are no markings to differentiate them from ‘normal’ USB cables. Possibly the ones that didn’t work for you are like this.
I bought a USB cable tester from Amazon which can test the 4 conductors in a cable. It’s been real handy when I have a problem.

The micro USB cable I have hooked up below is a power type cable as shown by two LED’s that are illuminated in the green highlighted box. Two unlit LED’s in the center check the data conductors.
