I have run into a new issue this week. Playback works fine until, after some period of time, playback does not always start at the beginning of a loop. If I repeatedly start and stop, sometimes playback starts on the loop seam and sometimes it doesn’t, causing a delay (playback starts when the loop seam is reached).
Rebooting the looper resolves the issue (playback always starts immediately on the loop seam). I had to do this during a show last night (the boot time takes forever, BTW).
I am using the looper in MIDI receiver mode with external MIDI clock. I suspect that the issue could be caused by the MIDI clock stopping for a period of time, but I am not certain.
Thank you for reporting this.
Please update your Aeros firmware to the latest version, which is currently 5.4.5.
FW update instructions: https://singularsound.com/firmware
Once the firmware is updated, please go to Settings and click Restore in the top-right corner to restore the default settings.
After restoring the settings, please reproduce the issue on a new song and capture a video of the bug happening. This will help us understand the issue and investigate it further.
You can compress the video into a ZIP file and send it here, or send it directly to support@singularsound.com.
Thank you!
I am now confident that this happens when the external MIDI clock is stopped and restarts. You can just disconnect the MIDI cable and plug it back in to make it occur. I have to reboot and endure the boot time to resolve it.
Thank you for the update! I’ll report this to the dev team. Could you please let us know how I can reproduce the issue? Is it just that if a loop is playing, and you disconnect the MIDI from the Aeros, it no longer plays back in sync? Please let me know. Thank you!
If you can send us a video or detailed steps of the issue here or to support@singularsound.com, that would be appreciated as well, so we can take a look.
A loop doesn’t need to be playing. I am able to disconnect or stop the external MIDI clock anytime and then reconnect / restart the clock. After that, the loop playback does not reliably start at the beginning of the loop (maybe 50% or so).
Thank you! I’ll make a bug report for the dev team.
We tried reproducing the issue using the steps you provided, but unfortunately, we were unable to reproduce it.
Could you please send us a video showing the exact steps you take to trigger the issue? At the beginning of the video, please show that both units are running the latest firmware (firmware update instructions). Please also restore the default settings on both units and demonstrate the issue using a new song.
You can send the video to support@singularsound.com along with a link to this forum post so we can investigate further.
Thank you for your help!
I’m sorry. I don’t have the time required to debug your hardware to that level. I suspect that it is tied to a setting (like immediate playback or something) that is causing the issue.
I completely understand!
If you can send us steps on how to reproduce the issue, or a short video, I’m happy to forward it to the development team. Currently we were unable to reproduce the issue, and therefore we are unable to fix it.
