Problems importing premade midi loops into BBMO

I’m trying to make some premade midi loops in 6/8 using my DAW (studio-one). I created a two bar midi loop and exported it, no problem. When I bring the midi loop into BBMO, it is condensing the loop into a single bar. It is successfully playing the midi loop but is essentially double time. I have set the time signature, tempo, and bar count in BBMO (2 bar) appropriately but I still get a single bar of double timed midi and a bar a silence every time I import the loop. I reloaded the midi file into back into the DAW and it plays correctly, so I think there is an issue on BBMO end. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

If you don’t mind, please zip your MIDI file and share it with the forum in this thread so we can try to help you sort it out.

2 bar 6-8 85bpm.zip (407 Bytes)

Sure, give this a try. It’s a 2 bar loop for a 6/8 time signature at 85 bpm

Thanks for providing your MIDI file.

I took a look at your MIDI file in Logic Pro X and made some screen shots that might help you understand what I did to (hopefully) resolve your issue. I tested the song as a loop and as a one-press in the Intro section of the BBMO.

Here’s what I did:

  • got rid of the A2 note as it falls in the bass guitar range and it seemed out of place
  • set the signature to 6/8 in the DAW (better to do so in the DAW than the BBMO)
  • changed the end of the MIDI file length in the DAW (also extended the duration of the foot hi-hat to the end of the adjusted MIDI file length)

These changes are illustrated in the enclosed screen shots along with the edits I made to your MIDI file; also included the song exported from the BBMO.

Thanks for your help. Your clip worked perfectly with BBMO. It seems after analyzing your files to my files, my DAW (studio one) is adding arbitrarily adding time to end of my midi clip when exporting and not properly saving the time signature info. I couldn’t find any reason for this problem. This is what was messing up the loop when loaded in BBMO. I decided to try the loop in a different DAW (Abelton) and it exports the exact time length and loads with BBMO perfectly, like your edited file. Not sure what this the issue is in Studio One or what I’m doing wrong in it, but for now, I’m just gonna use Abelton.
