Hi,
I haven’t had a question for a while, but I’ve spent a good bit of time searching and can’t find any documentation to answer this question…
When using the MM app and I browse the online custom commands uploaded by others, how can I tell what they do before downloading them?
I downloaded a few based on their titles (and what I thought they did), and downloaded them into my Midi Maestro. Some of them worked (and did what I thought based on their titles, such as “Crash”, which was a crash cymbal and worked), while others (such as one entitled “The End”) did nothing at all.
Is there a way to tell what these custom uploaded commands do?
Or, am I just doing something wrong?
Any advise would be appreciated!
Hello,
The only way to tell what a custom command does before downloading it is to check the specific commands that are included in it. Once you download the custom mode, you can review its details and see what commands are sent.
Sometimes you need to check if the channel matches yours
Thanks, Daniel. I appreciate the quick response. (I thought I had read in the manual that you could “test the command within the app” before downloading it, but I guess I was mistaken.)
I’ll keep playing with it.
One last question, do you have to have the BeatBuddy set on a certain drumset, or do the commands sent ignore which set you are on?
Thanks again!
Thanks NYHC. Good point. I’ll check that as well.
Thanks for your message! I’m not sure I fully understand your question—could you please clarify what you mean exactly? I’ll be happy to help!
Hi, Daniel -
For example, when I have a OPB song pulled up on my BeatBuddy that uses a drum-set like, say, NP StdPBass 63-91, and I push on one of my Midi Maestro buttons programmed to one of the sounds in the CrowdBuddy drum-set, it doesn’t make any sound. However, when I pull up the CrowdBuddy drum-set and then press that same button, it plays the sound.
So my question is, does the drum-set that contains the sound any MM button is pointing to need to be the one pulled up in the BB in order for the sound to play correctly?
(I think the answer is yes, but I’m not sure. I hope this makes sense.)
Thanks!
Short answer is “yes”
The CrowdBuddy sound you want needs to be part of the drum set that the song is using, NP StdPBass 63-91.
Support posted a link to a video on how to add samples to a drum set CROWDBUDDY download to SD card - #17 by DanielSingularSound and you just need to make sure that the drum set does not exceed 100Mb once you’ve replaced a drum instrument with a sample.
Another method might be to use a CrowdBuddy sample as an Accent Hit. Although I haven’t tried this, perhaps some other user could verify whether or not this works.
If my answer is incorrect, I’m sure others will weigh in to give you the straight skinny.
Hi, Persist. Thanks for your reply.
Always appreciated!
I thought that was probably the case.
My biggest concern there is that I need to make sure any samples I add to a drum-set don’t replace an instrument that some of my OPB builds are already using, or that might really mess things up.
Thanks again for your help!
D.
If this is the case, you can always duplicate the NP StdPBass 63-91 drum set, edit it to include the CrowdBuddy and give this modified kit a different name such as Crowd StdPBass 63-91.
Good thought!
Thanks again!
