Request: You Look So Good in Love by George Strait

Would appreciate a OBP of You Look So Good in Love by George Strait if someone has or is able to create. I’m still learning how to turn a song into reliable MIDI and losing right now.

Thanks

I’ll see what I can do.

Thank you! Last evening I saw that someone said they are using UGT and saving the different parts and converting them to MIDI. I have the Pro plan, and will try that on an easier song tonight. I’ve been trying to use actual songs and splitting them into stems. It hasn’t worked well for me.

Works easiest when you also have Guitar Pro 8 or use TuxGuitar to convert the .gp file to MIDI. A DAW can help make quick work of transcribing the MIDI.

At the moment I’m using Reaper with EZDrummer3 and EZBass.

Is this the software you’re speaking of?

Arobas Music Guitar Pro 8 Tab Editing and Composition Software

If so, it’s within my budget.
Are you able to create a tiny flow chart? (like the following) :

UG > GP8 > Reaper Tracks > MIDI > BB2

Nothing extensive, just a basic flow?

It is.

You’ve captured the essence of my basic workflow. I’ll put my work flow together.

You rock!

Here’s what I do:

Download UG Official tab > Open the tab in GP8 > Edit in Logic Pro X > Export to MIDI >
Create song shell in BBMO > Import MIDI to BBMO > Preview mix and adjust velocities

Let me know if you would like me to break this down further.

Super. I’ll try this tonight on a song (but Reaper vs Logic Pro since I’m a PC person). Thanks again!

Do you build the drums yourself? Or did I happen to pick a song that didn’t have them, but others do?

I don’t usually program the drums. If a UG official tab doesn’t have drums, I look elsewhere for a MIDI source file that does have drums.

When you first check the official tab, be sure to scan down the left column (Instruments) to make sure it has drums.

Ahh. I see the issue. UG Official tabs don’t have a download option for me. Strange.

What you should be looking for is the UG Pro file. Regrettably, there is no official Guitar Pro file for your George Strait song—just the Official tab and the Official tabs are not downloadable as MIDI files.

I should have clarified that the example work flow I posted was based on another song I was working on. Here’s a screen shot to illustrate:

  • The Official tab (High Quality) has the music sheet; the Chords tab has the chords & lyrics for the cheat sheet.
  • The official Guitar Pro file directly below the Official tab (4 downloads) can be downloaded and it usually corresponds with the sections of the Official tab music sheet. Have to be careful here because the official Guitar Pro file might be posted lower on the list and it shouldn’t be confused with other unofficial Guitar Pro files that appear but that may not correspond with the Official tab. How to tell? Look for the Guitar Pro files that have the same number of downloads

Hope this isn’t terribly confusing

PS I’ll work the OPB up early next week.

Thank you for explaining! This cleared thing up in my old mind.
