Song metronome behaves differently in BBMO and BeatBuddy 1

I have arranged a 2-press song that behaves the way I want in BBMO, but does not behave the same once actually loaded into the BeatBuddy 1.

  • BBMO Version: v1.5.6
  • Chrome version: 141.0.7390.77
  • MacOS version 14.1 (M3 Max)
  • MIDI files from Logic Pro version 11.0.1
  • BeatBuddy 1 version: FIRM-4.1.7

Situation:

I’m telling the BeatBuddy that the song is in 8/4. This gives me more time to hit a button when I want to transition to the outro. The song has three sections, all of which are in 8/4:

  1. Into (count in)
  2. Part 1 (main)
  3. Outro

Weirdness I’m Seeing:

When I start the song playing in the BBMO, the metronome kicks along at the pace I expect: eight subdivisions at 96 BPM. Cool.

However, on the BeatBuddy, just the metronome (not the song) kicks along at double time: eight subdivisions at 192 BPM. The audio of the song plays back correctly on both platforms. But the double time visual metronome makes hitting the buttons at the right time a bit trickier.

I’ve uploaded the *.sng file in case that helps: Counting_Blue_Cars.sng

Counting_Blue_Cars.sng (36.0 KB)

I’ve made a number of attempts to fix the problem, but no luck so far. Suggestions? Thanks.

Hi,

Please try setting the time signature for the intro to 4/4 using the BBMO, it should work as expected.

Thanks for the quick response. I just tried this suggestion. It’s not working for me. With this suggestion the metronome works correctly for all parts in the BBMO, as it did before. And when I sync this change to the BeatBuddy 1 pedal the metronome runs at the correct speed on (only) the Intro.

However, even after this change, on the BeatBuddy pedal itself as soon as the Intro finishes the metronome for the Main section jumps to run at double speed. The metronome for the Outro also continues to run at double speed. This double speed metronome behavior is the same as the original bug report.

The metronome that matters to me most is the one for the Main section, since that’s the one where I must tap at the right time to tell the Outro to run.

I appreciate your efforts. But I’m not seeing a solution yet.
