Start MIDI-slaved Beatbuddy in sync with Aeros Loop Studio

Hi there loopers. When Aeros Loop Studio is MIDI master, is it possible to start the Beatbuddy at the beginning of a loop, measure or even bar?

Latest firmwares.

I jam a freeform loop which gets auto-quantized correctly, and I can see that the Beatbuddy receives the BPM from the Aeros. However, when I then want to start an intro-less Beatbuddy beat in sync with this recording, I have to stomp it in just before where I want it to start, which is very accident prone! I can’t seem to figure out how to get the Beatbuddy to start in a logical place, like the next bar or measure or loop beginning. Any ideas?

Hello,

I would recommend going to the Aeros MIDI settings, selecting MIDI OUT, and adjusting the Start Command. Make sure Start Command is enabled and Start 1st Recording is set to Rec Commit. With Rec Commit, the MIDI Start command will be sent once the first recording completes and playback begins.

Hi Daniel, thanks for your suggestions. The problem is that I will often want to record three or four tracks before I ask the drums to come in, instead of having them automatically trigger after the first recording.

Hey there, unfortunately, what you want to achieve is not possible in this way. The BeatBuddy needs to use the start command to be in good sync when started, as it will start immediately regardless of your position otherwise.

What I may recommend is making a 1st part of the BeatBuddy song a blank MIDI File. (Using the BBMO)

This blank MIDI file will start the BeatBuddy silently and will avoid you needing to worry about starting on the one, just start a manual transition before the end of the measure, ahead of beat 1. You may prefer to do this via MIDI or even using an external footswitch.
