If I recall correctly, I had him replace his SD card with a new one and put the backup content from our downloads page onto it (i.e. not just transferring from one card to another). Try that. Also, listen to the BeatBuddy on headphones and make sure it is powered up by itself, just to isolate the possible causes of the problem.
Problem didnt go away. Was really bad on standard and brushes drumsets. Ended up only using the latin kit which was completely free off it. Disappointed at the time but I am still using the BB and have actually bought a second as a safety measure.
