PROBLEM SOLVED
The problem I was having with the SongBook Pro app was indeed a coding error in the MIDI statement (a value greater than 127). The app kept crashing because on start up it cues up the song that was being played during the last session. So if that song contained an error, it would keep on crashing. I was able to fix the code and restart the app which is a happy ending for me. So the issue was my bad. On with the show!
