Hi all,
I had problems transposing the keys in a few songs in Cubase - the demon that it is, and as always - Phil Flood is there to keep us right. Cheers Phil.
What he suggested worked well.
Once I had eventually calmed down that my songs were in key, I scoured the internet and found an easy way to do this - see the link below. Hope it helps all you Cubase abusers out there.
I’m not sure that will “stick” when you get to the point of exporting the track as a midi file. Also, and we didn’t get into this when dealing with your original song, you do need to be aware of the range limits in the BB kit. For example, my basses are usually mapped at midi 0 through 31, and range from C1 through G3. If the transposition results in a note higher than G3 or lower than C1, you will need to move those individual notes up or down an octave, as the case may be, in order to them fit the range of the BB kit.
But, it’s still a great tip to pass along. It certainly helps at the development phase, and helps to get a song in the right range for you or your singer before creating the BB .sng.
Way to go Phil - thanks for these precious little diamonds - great!
