Hi,
I’ve been playing with the BB2’s larger kits and I put together a 2 octave (E2-E4) bass kit with 9 samples per note with 3 velocity levels (225 total, i think) and I figured I’d share. I played all the samples myself and tried to provide each velocity layer a representative tone to provide some realism. I put the midi starting at 4 so it wouldn’t conflict with any drum sets and with the BBMO its easy to import the entire thing into a normal drum set.
Playing with the BB2 and the kits, these work great for quick and dirty bass sounds to add to a song. They aren’t, however, at a recording level of quality. Playing around and giving yourself some depth for fun, sure, but honestly the BB2 struggles with some of the articulation etc. Playing notes rapidly for example and with the humanization that appears to be going on, it trips over itself from time to time. I tried to work as many of those kind of issues out, but in the end I spent way to many hours on it.
There are 4 kits at the link, 1 dry just bass with raw Bass samples, 1 wet just bass (Bass WB using the helix), and the crowdbuddy with the both kits. You can import into any kit you like, i provided the crowdbuddy because SS offers it for free in their default kits.
There are also two songs that I made which have autopilot: Have you ever seen the rain and Run by Snow Patrol.
Feel free to use the songs and samples for whatever you like, or process them, etc, just give credit where credit is due. They aren’t that exciting and really just an exercise on making samples for the BB2. If you have BB1 and these sounds speak to you, for whatever reason, you can downsize the drumset in the bbmo I believe to fit the BB1.
Let me know if you have any issues with the link.
