I’m wondering when I can expect the Aeros to use some of its Bluetooth or WiFi capability? Specifically I am really hoping I can soon use Bluetooth to select Songs from Albums to greatly speed up my time between songs in a live set?
Thank you for reaching out!
This can currently be achieved by using a Bluetooth dongle or a wired connection and a phone/tablet.
Wireless connection:
You can use a wireless MIDI Bluetooth interface. The most common option is the Yamaha MD-BT01, available here: Yamaha MD-BT01 Bluetooth Wireless MIDI Interface.
However, please note that this method requires both ends of the BeatBuddy breakout cable, limiting the BeatBuddy to be connected to the dongle.
Wired connection:
For this method, you will need the following additional items along with the breakout cable:
a) Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter: Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter
b) USB MIDI Cable Converter: USB MIDI Cable Converter
Please consider these options and let me know if you need any further assistance.
Thanks for the reply. I’m leaning the wired route.
Would this require then getting a MIDI control app on my phone? If so, do you recommend any in particular?
Also, where is this covered in the manual?
The Yamaha was the first MIDI Bluetooth interface I’ve had, but…
The BT-01 series is based on Bluetooth 4. This is completely different from the current Bluetooth 5. The difference in performance and features between the two versions is just huge. If you look at the MD-BT01, it can best be compared with WIDI Master. This blog is entirely devoted to that.
If you need help with the setup, please send an email to support@singularsound.com, and I’ll be happy to assist you.
