Where did the Bar Count go for Fills?

I have a query (or a request) re: BBMO beta—”Main Beat” and “Transition” show the “Bar count”, which I find very useful, but when a MIDI file placed in “Drum Fill(s)” there is no bar count shown. I often use the “Fills” section for a middle 8, a bridge, a percussion section, etc. I’ve noticed that sometimes such a MIDI file might, for example, have 17 bars instead of 16 due to some MIDI notes creeping in via my DAW when I export the final MIDI. Yes, I can fix it in my DAW but since BBMO has this “Bar count” feature, I can fix such a MIDI file with one click in BBMO…………but not if the nefarious MIDI is placed in the “Drum Fill(s)” section! I just wondered if there was a reason for that—and if maybe the devs might be able to add a “Bar count” to the “Drum Fill(s)”?? :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Nito,

Please send an email to support@singularsound.com showing the exact issue and include a link to this forum conversation for reference. I’ll be happy to assist you accordingly.

I noticed this too. In the BBMO, fills are only 1 bar with two little beats at the end for adding a cymbal or something. BB1 could play multi-bar fills, and in normal play mode the BB2 sometimes plays them, sometimes butchers them, and in autopilot it will only play the first bar.

The documentation for the BBMO says fills are only 1 bar, however, you can import multi-bar. I’ve had to change a few songs for the BB2 because it doesn’t handle them correctly.

I’m sure this is a bug, or at least a lost feature from the BB1.

Hi oktronic—I’m glad you also noticed this but I don’t entirely agree with your findings. In BBMO beta I have ‘Fills’ that are 2-bars, 8-bars, 16-bars—they all work perfectly—for me anyway. They did on BB-1 and they still do on BB-2.

My query is simply there’s no ‘Bar count’ shown in the timeline section of BBMO.

Hey guys, the bar count for fills is coming back soon, but yes, the only official support for fills is if they are either 1 full measure, or a partial measure + a full measure. Any other case is not necessarily going to work as expected.

A partial + full measure will only play the partial measure if the beatbuddy 1 or 2 is set to play the fill at the next measure (cue fill settings).

Thanks for the question

Try autopilot with your multi-bar fill, mine only plays 1 bar. When I play in normal mode, it doesn’t always play the entire last bar like it does with the BB1.

I create my own tracks, patterns, loops, MIDIs, fills, transitions (even sample a few of my own drum WAV files to make them as “live” as possible) so Autopilot isn’t something I’m going to be using. Maybe that’s why I have no problem with fills that are 2-, 4-, 8-, 16-bars, or more.
