Where Do BB Settings Get Saved?

If I change certain settings on the BB, for example, how the pedal and footswitch buttons behave when BB is stopped, does that get saved to the SD card that is present?

So if I have a 2nd SD card as a backup, do I need to change the settings again when that card is present?

And does none of this have anything to do with BBMO?

They’re saved in a file named footswitch.ini on the SD card PARAMS folder.

If you haven’t changed pedal settings between the SD cards, you should be good to go

However, when using a backup card, I always check that the settings on the pedal remain the same. If they don’t remain the same, I run thru the Detector and then adjust the settings as needed.

Let me see if I understand things.

My workflow:
I edit beats, etc. in BBMO on my windows PC, from the folders in BB workspace folders within the Documents folder on the PC’s hard drive.

I save, then “sync to SD card”, my main card.

I occasionally sync to my backup card.

So I never import into BBMO from the SD card, I only save to SD card.

If I understand correctly:

  • When I change setting at BB for the footswitch, it writes to the card, and none of that is able to be edited in BBMO.
  • If I use the backup SD card, I’ll need to make those same footswitch settings, which get saved to the backup card.

Do I get it finally?

If you change settings for the footswitch, the BeatBuddy writes to the card.

This should work just fine however, since the BBMO no longer depends on the bbworkspace folder, I now have a folder on my desktop with several sub-folders for my various projects. This will work just as well for the BB1 as the BB2 pedals.

You basically have it down.

For the BB1, this is a good habit. If you have the same PARAMS folder on both cards with the same settings, you should be good to go. The caveat though is to always be safe rather than sorry and check the settings on the backup SD card. Last thing you want to have happen is to start your setlist and then find out that for whatever reason, your backup card didn’t load the same settings as from your primary SD card. It’s the old “ounce of prevention” grind. It’s a good practice to check both primary and backup cards during rehearsal (or always before you get to a gig).
