Aeros Firmware 4.1.x

Is anyone already using OnSong to select songs on the Aeros? If so, please share an example of how you set up commands there. Thank you!

My fault, I read this too fast. CC36 doesnā€™t Scroll like it states definition of CC36 on forum ( [MIDI Expansion Release 1: Official Commands List (4.1.x)]). Only options are top list, bottom list (and it references song selection).

So can anybody confirm there is any CC to scroll trought tracks and then be able to use CC41 value 100 (PRO on selected track)?
Or would apear ā€œsoonā€ a CC41 value 103, 104ā€¦106 to be able to PRO on 6x6 mode?

Hope ā€œsoonā€ this time translates to a reasonable time like one monthā€¦

To scroll trought the track you need to use the middle switch of the Aeros
There is no cc for that
What I do do on 6X6 mode is:

I have a command RPO
And another Record new track with play current track
So when I record and play the track on 6X6 I use the RPO to overdub on this track
But to navigate middle switch opf the looper

No, this is not part of that release and is likely not so straightforward. The Aeros would need master capabilities before we could go this route, if we were to.

We changed the order but only slightly, AutoQ and Master capabilities are next though likely master first, since Auto Q isnā€™t much use without Master capabilities.

Thanks for the question and your patience.

This does not seem correct, are you sure? Can you take a video of what you mean?

The Aeros has never before utilized the CC113 value 0 command, this is a new addition.

You only need to use CC113 value 0 when using CC113 value 126 Previous part and value 127 Next Part commands.

You should not be sending CC113 value 0 immediately with the CC 113 values 1-6 commands or it may happen immediately. If you delay when you send the CC113 value 0 command this should not happen.

Please let me know if any of this helped

You do not need to open the songs list to use the MIDI Song select messages, you only need to edit a song to have a set MIDI Song Select message and then send that message.

The Songs list is opened using the MIDI command CC:35 value 0.

What glitches are you referring to? There are still no glitches confirmed by us and the version is known to be stable.

Hey there, we can see how a select next track feature would be useful. We may have something to emulate the Next Track button behavior in the next release, stay tuned.

Odd, is this only just as you open the Aeros? Or is it always doing this? Is it only when you are on the Home Screen?

As stated this is CC36 value 2

YOu can find all officially supported commands here.

Sorry this does not make much sense to me, can you please send a video of what you are talking about to support@singularsound.com

Without more information we will not be able to reproduce and fix what you may be experiencing.

There is no command that handles this behavior yet, definitely something we will remedy soon, likely in the upcoming release after.

ā€”ā€”ā€”ā€”

Thanks for the questions everyone, let me know if you have more!

Also, , if and whem you find a bug, if you can please give us as many steps to reproduce andā€”even betterā€”a video are essential to making sure we can replicate it and potentially fix it.

It is also good to verify you can reproduce it yourself and it was not a ā€œrandomā€ occurrence.

Thank you!

Thanks for all the hard work, guys!

I downloaded the Beta version last week and so far here are some bugs/inconsistencies Iā€™ve found that may be helpful for you to know.

CC 41, VALUE 102- Will not target Track 2 (in fact it tends to lead back to Track 1, sometimes current track)

ALSOā€¦ this is bigā€¦ Aeros is having serious trouble keeping midi sync now. It will receive the tempo from the MC6, but the click has a sort of very subtle shuffle now.

The track progression is even visibly stuttering (not dramatically, but I can tell itā€™s struggling compared to the previous version). And when I go to the mixing window, there is a noticeable, and pivotal hiccup that often occurs as the Aeros pauses to think (?) about shifting screens, often disengaging from my other midi-synced devices (I have to stop/start to realign).

Obviously, it would be great to have that one patched up!

And while Iā€™m here, do you guys have anything in the works for selecting specific tracks- either to record, overdub, orā€¦ delete?

I have certain tracks assigned for certain instruments/parts and I donā€™t always work sequentially. Sometimes itā€™s a math problem meets juggling act to figure out a work around on the fly.

And a delete track button? Thatā€™d be really useful!

Love that you guys are on it. Thanks for the work!

The CC 41 Value 102 work only in 2X2 mode, Not in 6X6
With Value 101 & 102 you can RPO on the 2 tracks in 2X2

This is not how this is meant to work, it is only for use in 2x2, you cannot record tracks out of order on the Aeros.

We need a Select Next Track command which will not be in this release, but likely the next. For now, youā€™re best bet is to use Record Next Track (CC:41 value 0) command to record the next blank track.

Could you possibly create a video to show us what you mean?

You could post on YouTube unlisted and send it to support@singularsound.com, thanks!

We do hope to support this eventually but it is not how the Aeros currently supports the recording of tracks and so this will not be available for some time if it is doable.

Thanks! Guess I got a little excited about skipping a track in 6x6.

@BrennanSingularSound Thanks for the quick reply!

I must have overlooked that CC41, V102 was only for 2x2. Got it, thanks!

A select next track command would be great!

Iā€™ll try to get a video out for you guys this week.

 Thanks!

Since updating to the latest beta firmware there are some strange midi sync problems. sometimes the tempo is not detected and i have to change the song or just turn the tempo knob 1 turn and the Aeros will register the correct tempo. this happens a lot and i can easily reproduce it. I have a second beatbuddy also synced to the to the main one, and that also sometimes shows the incorrect tempo. By setting the master Beatbuddy to always send midi sync seems to help, but setting to only send sync on playback seems to make the matters worse. Nothing has changed with my setup which was working perfectly before the beta update.
Also as another person on this forum mentioned, when accessing the Mixer there can be a slight pause in the sound and this sends the Aeros out of sync, pausing and restarting fixes the problem. I am very much enjoying the new Midi commands which are extremely useful, there is one cc command missing, for Track Select, please could you add as soon as possible. Thanks

Could you please send a video of what you are talking about with your MIDI sync to support@singularsound.com along with answers to the following:

  • Steps To Reproduce:
  • Visual proof : Photo, video, audio

Song configuration:

  • Song saved: SD | Aeros
  • Record: Mono | Stereo
  • Track button action: RPO | ROP
  • Number of tracks: 6x6 | 2x2
  • Quantize: on | off
  • Count in: 0 | 1 | 2 | 3
  • Sync rule: start & length | length | off

Other important info:

  • Change song part: Immediate | End of measure | End of Loop
  • Stop song: Immediate | End of measure | End of Loop
  • With equipment : BeatBuddy | Midi maestro | other

Please also include this info for reproducing the tempo change problem you are experiencing.

If you can provide any more info about the mixer issue that would also be helpful

Thank you for reporting.

Also where is this 2nd BeatBuddy? between the 1st BB and the Aeros? What BB version are you on?

Hello Brennan
as per post made by @DavidPackouz in december 2019 CC113 were supported. quote : * CC-113, value 1-6: Begin transition to part (value #), if part doesnā€™t exist in song, ignore command.

  • CC-113, Value 0: complete transition and change song parts at end of the bar (like on BB). I have been using that functionnality ever since that release in december 2019. in most case all songs are used in 6 x6 mode As I press on my morning star MC6 I am sending the CC113 value 1-6 to select the loop section and as I release the button it sends the CC113 value 0 to complete the transition. prior to the last update the Aeros was behaving in that fashion. Ever since I have moved to the 4.3 version it now behave as if he would be getting both commands at once ???

Mostly want to say a big THANK YOU for midi song select!!! a HUGE improvement for how i do live performances.

i probably missed a post, but is there now (or do you think there will be) a way to delete all the tracks in a new song without it having to play the song for a second or two? (for me, this is mostly an issue in 2x2, if that matters)ā€¦ is there a midi command now that does this instead of holding the play/stop button on Aeros?

Just an end user hereā€¦

Yes, CC:42, value 0: Clear Song Immediately
It clears the song (deletes all tracks) with no confirmation when the looper is stopped and in the Loop Studio screen. Note: You CANNOT undo this action. 4.0.0

BTW, Singular Sound has updated the midi commands list ā€“ I think itā€™s complete

when might the WiFi version be ready?

Aeros 4.1.2 is out now!

There are some minor issues that are avoidable:

Known issue 1 - If the BeatBuddy is set to send clock only when playing, it will not work correctly with the new Aeros logic as of 4.1.2. The Aeros will perform optimally when the BeatBuddy is set to always send clock. This is set in the BeatBuddy menu (Main Pedal > MIDI Settings > MIDI Out > Sync).

Known issue 2 - If you manually change the BPM on the Aeros when editing an existing song (does not happen when creating a new song), the Aeros will not respond to the incoming BPM until it changes. For example, after manually setting the Aeros song to be 55BPM, it will ignore the incoming BPM from the external clock (letā€™s say 70BPM) until the external clock begins to send a different tempo. If you come across this bug in another way, please forward the steps taken and/or a video to reproduce this so we can look into it and possibly fix it.

Known issue 3 - MIDI song select is being filtered out in the home screen, you must first open a song to open more. This should be fixed in the following major feature release (4.2.x). Tip: Pressing the Play/Stop All button while in the home screen will reopen the last opened song.

Enjoy everybody!!

Is there a midi command for track selection?

Hey @BrennanSingularSound! Thanks for your patience.

Here are the links to videos that show examples of the sync issues Iā€™ve been experiencing (every performance) with Aeros since the beta update. Aeros is receiving clock data from the MC-6 via a MIDI thru hub, but none of my other synced devices seem to have issues or drift like the Aeros.

-I donā€™t think I listed drifting before, but Aeros is also drifting. I have to stop/start to re-sync with all other devices and itself (separate tracks).

Dry click

Tracks

A patch for this would be GREATLY appreciated!

 Thanks Brennan!

Same issue for me with midi sync from an Arturia keystep pro
