Aeros MIDI Commands

It is our plan to implement MIDI to support track volume manipulation, we have not yet fully defined this but it may be possible fader and mixer MIDI controlling will be done once we redesign the mixer (paving the way for panning)

More news on this soon, thank you!

I donā€™t have the Aeros yet - Iā€™m using the looper function of the TCH VL3 but the sound quality of the loop is pretty awful, so Iā€™m looking to change. However, I use OnSong as my midi action device and I need to know whether you can chose an Aeros loop directly from OnSong (by choosing the relevant program number) in the same way. If this doesnā€™t work, then Aeros isnā€™t viable for me. Can you please advise?

That would be amazing, so I can use some
External sliders to bring up volume.

No, you canā€™t select a specific loop on the Aeros using a single midi program change. The current midi implementation provides the means to go to loop studio screen, scroll up and down song list, and select currently highlighted song.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that puts a stop to me buying the Aeros and MIDI Maestro. Shame, cos Iā€™m sure there are lots of would be buyers that might not go ahead because of this.

We hope to soon have a MIDI select option to allow for this type of action, we will do our best to make a method that works for everyone and is conducive to using Aeros alone or using it in conjunction with the BeatBuddy when receiving MIDI song select messages. There are complications because of this but we hope to find a middle ground that can work for everyone.

Interesting,

You can place a request to allow for a single slider to be manipulable via MIDI when that track is selected. Since this may have UI implications, we may not do it right as we allow manipulation of tracks without entering Mixer with use of MIDI.

Stay tuned! This looper will be a whole other monster a month or two from now, thanks for your feedback!

I would be happy select parts directly without dancing and block some parts in 6x6 if I dont need them. Quick access to parts would be a solution for that too.

You know on the aeros when you want to stop recording but you want to keep it playing you hit the bottom right play button. Is there a midi command for that play yet? Am i missing something?

Unfortunately, thatā€™s not there yet. Itā€™s one of the main reasons why I need to keep the Aeros and MIDI Controller side by side.

You can drop out of record mode if you switch to Part with a Track already recorded on it, but thatā€™s not the same thing as just having a ā€œPlayā€ command obviously.

Is there any way to do the following using MIDI commands:

Start Recording track then
Play Track

Thatā€™s just what the two taps on the right FS do by default in 2x2 mode. I found the CC-41 (record new track), but do not see how to stop the recording without starting a new track. The sequence I am working on is

  1. record 1 measure to track 1
  2. skip 5 measures - playing intro over track 1 loop
  3. record 1 measure to track 2
  4. keep track 1 and 2 looping, while playing solo (not to be recorded)

The above works right out of the box with just Aeros looper, but I need to switch audio effects patches as well, so I am using a midi controller to send commands to Aueros Looper and Line 6 HX Stomp to avoid an extensive tap dance.

Seems to be basic feature, should be available out of the box, do I miss something?

Thank you!

Hey there, there is currently no playback command, but to be honest there were no midi commands at all originally, so that was a step in itself for us. We understand the limitations of this and will have a MIDI update very soon that will include considerations for playing back after setting a recording.

Currently, you must set a recording to playback on the Aeros itself or by starting a new recording/Part. Corner case is if you hit record next track while on the final track in a song part, this will start playback at next sync point (e.g. you have all 5 tracks recorded to and are recording track 6, Record New Track MIDI command will start playback.)

Thank you for your feedback, we hope to make you happy sooner than later.

Alex, if I understand you correctly, this is what I have done for your scenario:
***Send cc#41, value 0 to start recording
***Send cc#37, value 0, which stops recording at the end of the measure, but also performs an undo on the recorded track.
***As soon as the new measure starts, send cc#37, value 0 again, which undoes the undo and plays the track.
***When youā€™re ready, send cc#41, value 0 to record the second track.
***When finished recording the second track, send Send cc#41, value 0 again, which plays both tracks.
Let us know if that works for you.

Hey Mike, thanks for the hint. Tried it tonight, it works. I am using Soleman foot switch midi controller, and it supports ā€œMomentarilyā€ mode, so that I am sending both commands with a single tap (first goes out when depressing, second on release), so no extra tap dance required. That said, I still would appreciate all the operations available via foot switch to be exposed through MIDI as well.

can we use the footswitch to turn on and off the metronome? it would be nice to set it to on and when I feel like turning it off I can

footswitch assigned to metronome on and off?

You could make a feature request, but unfortunately it is not as simple as a toggle because there are more than 2 settings, and we plan on reworking the click settings as they are, this may not be on the first MIDI release.

Thanks for the feedback!

I didnā€™t think there were going to be multiple releases. Does this mean midi features are going to be spread out across multiple midi releases? Is there a release schedule detailing what features will be available?

Sorry but Iā€™m losing patience and confidence quicklyā€¦ Been waiting a year and a half, sure how much longer Iā€™m going to wait around on this thing.

can you make mixer settings stay per part? they stay fixed for the whole song

Click should become a track in the Mixer View just to the left of Main with independent volume and mute control just like all the others, and eventually be accessible via MIDI like all the others. Thatā€™s what makes the most sense to me as a performer.
