Aeros starting BeatBuddy in second part

Hi there.

Aeros is set to TRANSMITTER and the BeatBuddy has Output Type set to MIDI-THRU.

Via MIDI from a Morning Star MC8 Pro controller, I record a track on the Aeros and then select the next part. The BeatBuddy has been silent (desired behaviour). As soon as I hit record in this next part, the BeatBuddy starts playing. No MIDI message is sent to the BeatBuddy from the MC8 Pro but it must be receiving a start from the Aeros. As far as I can see, I have that functionality turned off. Any ideas?

Aeros Loop Studio firmware 5.4.5

BeatBuddy Firmware 4.1.3

On the Aeros:

MIDI OUT settings on the Aeros:

MIDI CHANNEL: 2 (The BeatBuddy MIDI IN is set to MIDI channel 2)
MIDI MODE: TRANSMITTER
MIDI OUTPUT: MIDI-MERGE
CLOCK SYNC: ALWAYS ON or WHILE PLAYING
TIME SIGNATURE: SYSEX
TRANSITION: OFF
RPO COMMAND: OFF
START: DISABLE
STOP: ENABLE
SEND STOP AT EMPTY PART: DISABLE
CANCEL STOP: DISABLE
SEND AS RECEIVER: DISABLE
MIDI OUTRO: DISABLE

Hello,

Thank you for the detailed info! Could you please let us know your full MIDI setup and exactly what you are trying to achieve? That way, I’ll be able to assist you more accurately.

What is your physical MIDI setup? Which device’s OUT is connected to which device’s IN?

Let’s say you have Device A’s OUT connected to Device B’s IN, and Device B’s OUT connected to Device C’s IN, you would write it like this: Device A (OUT) > (IN) Device B (OUT) > (IN) Device C.

Hi there Daniel,

Thanks for getting back to me. Setup is:

Ampero Control (OUT) > Morning Star MC8 Pro (IN [Used for changing banks and pages on the MC8]), Morning Star MC8 Pro (OUT) > Aeros (IN), Aeros (OUT [Merge]) > BeatBuddy (IN), BeatBuddy (OUT [Merge]) > Source Audio Encounter (IN), Source Audio Encounter (OUT) > Valeton GP-50 (IN).

Doh! Forgot to say what I’m trying to achieve:

Basically, I want to start the BeatBuddy manually via MIDI, after laying down a few tracks and a couple of parts in auto-quantise mode. The BeatBuddy is successfully receiving the computed BPM on the fly.
