BBMO Playlist Sync to BeatBuddy issues

I brought this issue up to Beatbuddy support back in April and was waiting for the new update (V1.5.6) of BBMO before bringing it up again.

The issue is with Playlists in BBMO not syncing to the BB pedal if you delete playlists and then make new playlists. I noticed the issue 30 minutes before a gig started where I had made a custom setlist for the venue. It was not there! So I had to scramble and recreate it from scratch directly on the pedal while trying to soundcheck and mentally wonder what the heck had happened.

**BBMO can only have 17 setlists. Beatbuddy can only read 17 setlists. However, BBMO will let you delete setlists and create new ones but when you do it doesn’t update the related files in your project. It instead just adds a new Playlist. If you delete and add new ones enough you will quickly be over 17 and then BBMO assigns as Playlist 18, 19, 20….and so on. However, after syncing to Memory Card Beatbuddy only can see up to 17 setlists and thus any of these new ones which are referenced above 17 but probably have been renamed to something like Setlist 1 or Rock Setlist etc. are not there. I was able to go into my Playlist folder on my project and delete the CSV file and start over, but this is not something I would recommend. It all should be happening behind the scenes through BBMO.

If you want to duplicate the problem. Make 17 setlists in BBMO sync and see if you can access all of them on Beatbuddy. You should be able to. Now go and delete 3-5 or more randomly and then add new setlists with new names in BBMO. You will notice that it starts naming them Setlist 18, 19, 20….etc. Sync again. Now on the Beatbuddy you still will not be able to go past the original 17 setlists you created, thus not being having any of the new setlists you created. The reason is because when saving to your project, the CSV reference file in the playlist folder does not record deletes, and thus just keeps assigning the next sequential number, but Beatbuddy only reads to setlist 17. (At least that seems to be part of the reason. I’m no expert!)

If we are gonna have the playlist function it needs to work right. This is the second time that I have had playlists available in BBMO but after syncing to memory card and going to use my Beatbuddy at a gig, the setlists were not there.

Please fix or advise!

Hi Scott,

Thank you for your detailed report. I’ve forwarded a full report along with a video and the step-by-step details to our dev team. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thanks for looking into it. I use BB regularly for duo and trio gigs and you guys continually make better workflows for it. I’m excited for all the new stuff coming our way.

This Playlist numbering/syncing issue is still not corrected. It’s a big problem for me and probably an easy fix. See my full report above.

Summary:
If you delete setlists and make new ones, once you are passed 17 setlist (even if you only show 1) Playlist 18 gets created by the system and does not exist on memory card. I create new setlists frequently and right now I have to keep 17 setlists available and delete all the songs individually in it to keep it available and to keep it from creating setlist 18 and beyond. If I delete the setlist and create a new one then it becomes setlist 18, 19, 20, etc…and does not exist on memory card. Full report and how to duplicate it above.

–Thanks!

Thanks again for the detailed follow-up. I’ve forwarded the issue to our dev team once more so they can continue investigating. We really appreciate your patience and thorough reporting!

Please try this on the beta version of the BBMO and let us know

Thanks
