Beatbuddy 2: Autopilot and Original Complete Collection

Hi, looking forward to the Beatbuddy 2, will the autopilot function work with the original Complete Collection songs I purchased last year?

Hey there,

Any song can be set to use autopilot, but you will have to enable it and set it up yourself if it was not packaged to have autopilot.

Only songs sold by Singular Sound in the Beat Boutique Library will be set to have autopilot when purchased, we will have the song fully mapped and ready to use with just one tap (on BeatBuddy 2).

Generic content (not based on artist songs) will not be set to use autopilot, but, like I mentioned before, users are free to set any song up as an autopilot song themselves.

The bad news is, because the content you purchased is no longer being sold by Singular Sound (we do not own it), it cannot be updated to the new format

The good news is the Beat Boutique is 100% owned by the company, and this will never be an issue with content going forward.

Thank you for the question

But I will still be able to use the beats and songs from the Complete collection with the Beatbuddy 2 right? I will just need to program them manually to work with autopilot

Correct all the songs will work even if you just plug your SD right in straight from your BeatBuddy 1

I’m confused. Are the following correct?

  • Currently neither the current Beat Boutique (nor the prior Complete Collection) are enabled for AutoPilot. You can edit them (like any other song), but the content does not support autopilot
  • The “Groove Monkee Collection” is the only set of songs that Singular Sound sells … and this content is now 100% owned by Singular Sound.
  • All the other products listed (today) are drum sets (YMMV whether or not that is obvious).

  1. The Beat Boutique content will be updated on the official release date of the BeatBuddy 2, if you purchase Beat Boutique songs before then you can redownload them for the AP version, all cover song content we sell in the Beat Boutique will be set to AP, these versions will work fine on the BeatBuddy 1, just with no AP capabilities.
  2. Groove Monkee is a 3rd party creator, it’s not 100% owned by Singular Sound
  3.

What songs are on Beat Boutique besides the Groove Monkee stuff?

Looks to me like the rest of the content are drum sets, not songs?

Check again!

Me thinks you just updated the site? Not fair!

Is there any use for autopilot for those who only use complete midi songs that are already autopilot in some way?

Great question!

Some benefits will appear more and more with time as we have several songs available, but here are my thoughts on this:

  1. You won’t have to ask someone to make it for you or spend time doing it yourself, and risk any issues with source files or issues with multiple time signatures. It will be professionally reviewed and QC’d to make sure you can tap once and play along.
    • The MIDI files are made using the BeatBuddy plugin in a DAW by professional drummers who transcribe the song for the most accurate playback and timbre.
    • Our team packages and QCs the behavior of the songs to make sure it’s accurate
    • If an error is found you can report it and we will fix it and reupload the content for free redownloading
  2. There’s the added benefit of the screen showing you where you are in the song and where the fills and transitions happen. The BeatBuddy 2 features a significantly improved UI for following along compared to the BeatBuddy 1.
  3. You can interact with the pedal, like pausing and playing fills/transitions
    • Pause for an impromptu drum break
    • Elongate a section with a manual fill
    • Transition to shorten the section
    • Switch to a specific part to continue AP count from that part

All in all, it will be easier to learn the song, practice it, and perform it with less room for error and more clarity

Hope this answers your question!

I don’t use only drums. When I say midi is a complete midi os a song. Bass, keys and certinho ele that contains that song

You would still need to add those parts in manually because the midi files we make do not contain anything other than drums, I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point people do start to make APBK songs. One of the benefits of the BeatBuddy 2 is that the drum set size limit is over 4x larger than BB1 (100MB) at 450MB per kit. Meaning you can make larger kits with more samples inside of them.

What will be involved in/how difficult will it be making a current song autopilot compatible ?

Just open your song in BeatBuddyManager Online, clearly define its parts and transitions, and switch on AutoPilot. If your song is already structured correctly, this will be quick. If it needs more adaptation, it’ll take a bit more time but is totally doable for anyone familiar with song editing.singularsound+1

  1. Beatbuddy 2 - BeatbuddyManagerOnline - Autopilot Songs
  2. BeatBuddy AutoPilot 2020?

Thank you for the response, I suppose this will be a little clearer when the unit ships and the bbmo is updated for autopilot also.

As long as you know the lengths and timing of sections already, it should take you ~5 minutes or less to set up a song and get it on your BeatBuddy 2

If I’m building an auto pilot song, and I want to pause for a measure or specifics amount of time and then unpause, can you build in that pause into the auto pilot song, or do you have to have a blank measure to transition to?

You can have a part that is empty—just add 1 hit and adjust the velocity to 0, so it will be silent. This way you can use the empty part in your autopilot song. Once you receive your BeatBuddy 2, feel free to email me at support@singularsound.com for assistance with this.
