BeatBuddy AutoPilot 2020?

I’m actually planning on buying a Beatbuddy and premium library… maybe with groovemonkee.

But have been waiting for autopilot to happen.

Actually I was kind of also hoping for the Beatbuddy 2.0… so I might wait until NAMM. But who knows…_

I have no inside knowledge, but I’m not sure that’s anything being worked on or remotely ready. I’d buy the device which is ready to use now if it meets your needs.

Personally, I’d prefer a single device with both loops and beats. Do we call that Aeros Beats?

100% agree on the integrated device idea. I would rather not have such a high-end looper, maybe an Aero Light…and since the code it so well written and modular, it should be fairly easy to do. :upside_down_face:

The feature to import backing tracks and lock them from delete/clear wild go a long way. Just last night I inadvertently cleared my strings backing track and now have to hook up the cables and send midi clock to the Daw and Aeros to re-record it. I’m likely to buy a different looper to fulfill this function next week.

BB and Aeros do great things, but they’re a bit clunky with lack of features and the BB Manager circa 1994 GUI.

I want to love them and continue our relationship, but we spent so much time fighting.

So is this still a work in progress it seems that the main person that was relating the message back to us hasn’t replied since Nov. Has anyone tried to import whole songs as one drum track? Is there any issues with pausing?

Okay… I Bought the Beatbuddy and premium library. Now just waiting for autopilot….

Wondering if the
premium library is ready for it … and if that’s a free update … whenever it is released. Same question for library content bought ala carte.

If the Autopilot / BB Manager Software issue is about money then I have an idea.
Maybe you guys can do a Go Fund Me (or similar) and offer the Premium Content to anyone who donates $100 towards the BB Manager Software upgrade. On the one hand, you would be cannibalizing your base. On the other hand, you would get people like me to pay for this because I am on the fence with the premium content until the upgrade. This might also allow you the resources to get rid of the black eye you have with a fantastic piece of hardware with less than fantastic software. In the end you would have happier customers who would buy more premium content in the future…
OR, you could just raise the money and get this done without our help.
Would be great to hear a real timeline.

Great idea but….
I have no confidence that they know what they are doing.
It’s kind of ridiculous that we are still talking about this so many years later.
What a joke!

Yeah, FWIW, getting the auto-pilot truly happening is something I’d happily pay (some reasonable) price for.

And it is also, so far, and probably ultimately, the key for me as to whether I buy the Premium Library.

@DavidPackouz @BrennanSingularSound … any kind of updates you can give us? Is there any progress at all? @GoranGrooves had been trying out some early versions but there’s been no updates on this for awhile? Could you please let us know where it is at?

Actually a true limited beta would be good. Where they can tell us what functionality to NOT to use because they may have known problems with that part of the program. (Well ok…. That is more of an alpha test version.)

But I bet they have most things working and just have some pesky problems with some functionality they can’t single out… probably cascading errors where they fix something and it breaks something else.

Neil’s post was directed at @DavidPackouz , but as you see he has not responded. Perhaps you could ask Dave to comment here next time you see/talk to/email him. Thanks

Hi @Neil_McCann we need to complete the BeatBuddy Manager 2.0 for Autopilot to be fully functional. That is in progress, but I don’t want to give a timeline on it just yet. It is one of our top priorities.

the longest update ever :grin::grin:

I saw a copy of the BeatBuddy Loader software (what will eventually be the new BeatBuddy Manager), courtesy of Goran, about three months ago. It had a few minor bugs in it, but I would have expected that your software team would have fixed those by now, and you would have let us have it. You did say elsewhere that you would be releasing incremental builds. To the outsider this just doesn’t feel like priority development.

Hi all!
I can’t understand, why this “autopilot” feature is so highly requested. I think everyone could implement this right now. You can make a MIDI file with CC commands that will change song parts, fire drum fills etc. You can do this in any MIDI editor, in Ableton Live, for example. Take the timeline, place CC commands there on the appropriate beats, save MIDI, open it in MIDI player, start playing this MIDI-file and send all to BeatBuddy MIDI In — that is your AutoPilot. This method works with Aeros too. I’ve been using it in the songs in 6х6 mode, and it just works. I was using Roland UM-ONE mk2 as USB to MIDI interface to play MIDI file with CC commands from my PC to BeatBuddy and Aeros.

Sure, this can be done. But it requires knowledge of the CC commands, how to work a MIDI editor, time to actually create the “song”. Plus the added the requirement of having a PC (and USB to MIDI convertor) as part of your rig. One of the original Unique Selling Points of the BeatBuddy was that it is a pedal that just fits on your pedal board. And I’m guessing that Autopilot (if it is ever implemented) would be able to be overridden by pedal presses, if you decided to cut the song short, or repeat the last chorus.

If we were given a roadmap for the Premium Library songs (so we could import the parts in the right time into a single file), then that would be a tremendous help and would alleviate some users’ issues with the lack of AutoPilot.

I agree with this point. They’ve given us (sold us) Premium Beats for songs that they obviously programmed with, often, many sections, and then just left it up to us to figure out what they were doing. They programmed the beats so obviously they have the road maps for the songs. If they would release them, there really wouldn’t be a need for the autopilot feature because we would know where in the song to hit the pedal.
