Bug on import some drum kits

There’s something that really intrigues me about BBM. It’s very common for me to take an existing drum kit, make some changes, and then save it with a different name. After that, I import it into BBM. Nothing different so far. But it turns out that some kits simply won’t be imported by BBM. There’s nothing to be done. This happens in both the old BBM and the new one. Any suggestions?

We recommend using the BBMO for this process. If the issue persists, please send an email to support@singularsound.com with detailed steps of the problem, and we will assist you further.

Yes . It happens even bbmo

Have you tried following Phil_Flood’s method from this link?

Why do some kits appear like this??

Every time I open my project it looks like this. I don’t know if it’s because I have several projects with different names.

Some possible reasons:

  • your songs have been named with a .drm extension
  • your project has been corrupted
  • a combination of the two

What can you do to fix this?

I don’t know how you’ve structured your bbworkspace or your project folder nor what the contents of your SD looks like. If you’re using Windows, please learn how to take Print to Screen pictures How to Take Screenshots on Windows 11 | Microsoft Windows or if you’re using the macOS, Take a screenshot on Mac - Apple Support

Providing screen shots may help either a forum user or Support to provide you the help you are asking for. More detail will also help. For example, do the same song titles appear when you examine the drum sets on your BeatBuddy (BB) pedal? If this is the case, perhaps opening the DRUMSETS folder on your SD card and providing a zipped copy of the config.csv in reply might help us figure out what’s going on.

If you do not see those song titles in your drum sets on your pedal, it might be an indicator that you need to do some general house keeping of your project folder that’s on your computer. Because the project content on your SD card is usually in a good state and you’re using the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM), I would try the following:

  • insert your SD card in your computer
  • make sure you have quit your BBM
  • open the SD card and select and then copy all contents
  • create a new folder on your desktop and then paste the contents to that folder
  • give the folder a name: CLEAN - PROJECT
  • move this new folder to your bbworkspace folder > user_lib > projects
  • launch the BBM > File > Open Project and navigate to your bbworkspace folder > user_lib > projects
  • select CLEAN - PROJECT and select your project file and then press Open or OK
  • open the BBM Drum Sets tab. Do the song titles still appear in the list of drum sets?

Something else I just thought of: if you have any backing tracks in the BeatBuddy (BB), they are probably using a recorded wav file as the sample for the drum set and the BB song will need it to play. If this is the case, it could be that the wav file/drum set is using the name of the song.

I’ve actually never structured my workspace. I don’t know how to do it or what it’s for lol.
By chance, when you open a project, does it open drum kits or songs from other projects?
The interesting thing is that on the SD card everything seems fine, but on my PC it’s complete chaos. It’s not controlling anything, I don’t know what’s for one project or another. I don’t know where the drumsets go.
Every time I open bbm the project opens automatically. I can’t open bbm without opening a project.

After creating a clean project can I delete allAfter I create the clean project, can I delete all the BB content that is not part of this clean?

I’ve been under a lot of stress because I’m afraid of losing my project.

And this could very well be your problem.

When you first installed the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM), it should have created a the bbworkspace folder within your computer Documents folder. It should look something like this:

Problems will begin when users start saving project folders all over their computer. Just as users lose track of where the contents to their projects are located, the BBM could very well be losing track of what’s where.

The BBMonline (BBMO) helps solve most of the above issue by simplifying the file structure. If you are using a newer operating system and Google Chrome or another supported browser (Vivaldi, Edge, Opera, Arc or Dia), it may be worth your time to start fresh by copying the contents of your SD card (it’s considered a clean project) into a new folder on your desktop. Follow the directions from the BBMO user guide or from this link BeatBuddy Manager Online - Release Announcement! to get up and running with the BBMO and the project saved in a new folder on your desktop. Once you are up and running in the BBMO, start to clean up the project folders and files that are most likely scattered on your desktop, download and documents folders. I probably would not delete all of this stuff, instead, I would zip it and place it in your Documents folder (but not in the project folder that the BBM or BBMO use. If you’ve bought any Premium or Boutique content, you should be able to find it in case of an emergency.

A general rule of thumb is to keep the projects to a minimum number. For example, I keep about 6 folders to a project. Once I’ve filled each folder with 99-128 songs, I create a new folder and export the oldest folders as a .pbf and save them. I now have 3 folders in my BBMO project (and 152 drum sets). The other 64 folders are stored on my computer and backed up. This is what my BBMO project folder looks like:

This is what the contents of my project folder on my computer looks like:

Much less clutter than my old bbworkspace folder. easier to find and less chance of storing different projects all over my computer.

Make a backup copy of your project that’s on your SD card to another SD card and store it safely.

Thanks in advance for your help. The song names you see on the drumsets are intentional. I actually save the name of the drumsets with the name of the song in which it is used. I usually have one drumset for each song.

I have one backup
