Dominican Merengue -

That’s it. I finally started doing solo acoustic gigs, and am no longer using nor recommending Beatbuddy to anyone, or buying any other products. I had the first beatbuddy, which started glitching uncontrollably and became unusable. Then I bought the second Beatbuddy and I’ve asked for a decent, authentic Merengue rythm for YEARS only to be ignored and referred to this forum. Which I addressed here years ago to no solution. I’m done. If you can make hundreds of obscure rythms from all over the world, you can make a decent Dominican Merengue, but you obviously refuse. Bye.

Hi there,

Not sure who you spoke with about this but thank you for this request!

We are working on Latin rhythms now and merengue is on our list of things to do

I am personally in charge of the Beat Boutique content and will make an effort to have something for this sooner than later.

We apologize that it took us this long to get to it but we just started making our own in house content in 2024, and we have Latin content cooking right now

If you are willing to wait a little longer we promise to have something compelling available soon

Thank you for your patience and your candor!

It’s literally only two instruments. Guira and Tambora. Thank you.

Still no merengue

Send me a couple mp3 files of songs that have the beats you want. Philflood@aol.com

I’ll see what I can do.

I got your links. I’ll work something up in the next couple days.

1st result:

I finished the kit, subject to any tweaks it might need, and I made a sample song from the drum loop drawing in the video. Let me know if this is approaching what you want, and I’ll go from there.

I picked up a bit of paid work, so I hope you understand that paid work get first priority for my time.

I do have the other loops in process, so as I find time, I’ll continue to post those on this thread.

Merengue Loops and Songs part 1.zip (17.3 KB)

Loops and songs results from the free midi download available on the Duro samples website. I have arranged this into a format that is useable on the BB, and have created 2 “songs” which are just sets of the 8 different loops that I made from their download. These uses the Merengue kit that is found in the fsample package above.

I’ll try to get a few more loops made from the other material I have over the next 2 weeks.

This is coming along very well. I found a Dominican Merengue instrument package that had a couple sample loops. I’ve also made a midi file of the loop from the video where the pattern is written out.

I was able to download the song file you linked to on YouTube, and I have separated out the drum track with a stem splitter. I found 13 sections of the song that sounded good to make loops with some variations in them. All told, you should end up with around 20 midi parts that you can mix and match into songs, along with a custom drum kit that has Quinto, Conga, Tambora and Dominican Guira.

It will take me a bit to get it done, but it’s in process.

Phil
