The link in the very first post still works. It’s just the drop box links that don’t work
Yes I know, but it’s not the corrected version.
I’ll check it all out in a day or two.
Hi Phil did you find out?
Thanks
Hi, all -
Helpin’ Phil out a little bit.
Here is the version of the song that he corrected for me back in 2021.
I substituted NP StdPBass 63-91 as the drum kit and it works fine.
Anyway, hope this helps!

Hey there and thanks…… slipped this 72 yr old mind.

Thanks to both of you. I am singing it in a lower Key (starting in Em instead of Am, so 5 semi tones below). Does anyone have a tool to change the bass line easily to make it fit? I tried with BBMO but ended messing everything up…
Hi, Frets -
I transposed it for you using Reaper to Em. It works, but the bass line is a little high now. With the drum set that the song is using (NP StdPBass 63-91), dropping 5 didn’t work because half of the notes dropped below line 63 in the DAW (into the drum set range). So, I had to raise it 7. I played along with it, and I think it works.
Otherwise, it would need rebuilt in the DAW for a totally different drum set using 0-31 as the bass line. Anyway, hope this version helps.

Give this one a shot and see if it also works for you. It uses the SUB-Std Pro PL Bass 0-31 kit.
Thanks so much, I haven’t tried it on my BB yet but listening to it on BBMO it looks fine. Will let you know if I feel that there is any issue. This forum is really great!
Thanks persist, my understanding is that your version is using lower bass notes right? However I am not able to try it as I can’t find the sub std pro bass 0-31 kit, even in the “missing kits” list. I have one named sub std pro swn bass 0-31 but this one dosn’t work.
Correct. It uses the lower bass range. Strange that your kit would not work as the bass notes of the kit are in the same range as the kit I used.
Here’s a guide that I share when I post my songs and it should help you find kits on the forum. How to find drum sets on this forum
If you’re still having trouble, try downloading the song again—I just downloaded it from here and tested it and it plays correctly.
Thanks persist for pointing me to the right place for this drumkit. It works fine now and I didn’t need to re-download the song. Great contribution as always!
I now have two versions (with the one from 40yoPirate which works well also).
I am playing (and singing) on acoustic with a friend who plays on electric, so we’ll check together which one suits better for our set.
Either one should work well for your duo.
Is it possible to have this transposed in the original key with the abrupt ending on the Bm, a.k.a. “live version”? In other words, Phil’s 2019 version, Key B, with the “live version” ending.
This latest song is 2 semi tones lower, as was requested by someone else. I’ve played along with it many times, and the solo in the lower key is harder to bend strings. I know that 2 frets lower shouldn’t matter, but it does, especially trying to stretch those 3 against 4 arpeggios in the final outro solo. I play the high notes.
I LOVE the “kill the beast” part!!
I know this sounds somewhat pedantic, but isn’t the original song actually in D? The Bm intro is D’s relative minor, etc., etc. I realize Key A and Key B are being tossed around here, and even Em. Thanks for understanding.
I’ll see what I can do on the live version. It’ll probably be a new effort though and I have quite a backlog of songs I’m working on for my paying clients (they come first).
Phil, any chance you have a sng for the live acoustic version on Hell Freezes over? It’s in Bm but would be cool if you had an Am version (?). Wishful thinking?
Hi Mikael,
If you have a Bm version, all you need to do is open it in BBMO and shift the Bass notes down 2 rows, Bm \ A#m \ Am.
Give it a try.
Is there a way in BBMO, to select all bass lines and move them together? (Sorry, very new to midi).
Looks like I will need to learn to create my own. Doesn’t seem like anybody has the Hells Freezes over acoustic version. The percussion is totally different from the original version.
