Inconsistent behavior of track soloing between 2x2 and 6x6 modes when applying "solo" to a muted track

In the examples,
P1 is part 1
P2 is part 2
T1 is track 1
T2 is track 2

***************** 2x2 MODE:
Sequentially:

  1. With two more than one recorded track in P1, the Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 “soloes” T1 and mutes T2
  2. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 unmutes T2
2a) Alternatively selecting [UNMUTE] on T2 plays it again.

Now repeat the first two steps

  1. With two more than one recorded track in P1, the Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 “soloes” T1 and mutes T2
  2. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 unmutes T2
  3. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T2 (already muted) cancels T2 and queues recording.

COMMENT: Unless there is a major reason, Wouldn’t it make more sense that step 3 “soloes” T2, i.e. plays T2 and mutes T1?

***************** 6x6 MODE:
With 3 recorded tracks on P1T1, T2 and T3:

  1. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 “soloes” it and mutes T2 and T3
  2. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 unmutes T1 and plays T2 and T3

Now repeat the first two steps

  1. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 “soloes” it and mutes T2 and T3
  2. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T1 unmutes T1 and plays T2 and T3
  3. Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T2 (muted) then ALL tracks are unmuted.

Same comment as above.

Thank you for posting the request.

Could you please send us a short video showing the behavior you are experiencing, along with a brief explanation of what you are trying to achieve, just so we can make sure we are on the same page?

Also, please make sure your unit is running the latest firmware (5.4.5) and try restoring the default settings before recording the video. In the video, it would also be helpful if you could clearly show the steps and behavior in both 2x2 and 6x6 modes as described (P1/P2 and T1/T2/T3).

Once we have this, we’ll be able to look into it properly.

Hi Daniel, how do I send you a video?

I’m sending you here a corrected text description of what the videos contains. One video is for the 2x2 mode and another for the 6x6.

***************** 2x2 MODE:

1 )0:00 Turn ON and initialize Settings (Behavior, System and Hands Free)

  1. 1:40 Record 2 tracks in Part 1.

  2. 2:02 With two recorded tracks in P1, using the Slideout Menu/ SOLO TOP TRACK (T1)
    “soloes” T1 (mutes T2

  3. 2:17 using Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO TOP TRACK unmutes T2 (play along T1)

5 ) 2:21 using the Slideout Menu/ SOLO TOP TRACK (T1) “soloes” T1 (mutes T2

  1. 2:30 using Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO BOTTOM TRACK (T2, already muted) cancels T2 and queues recording.

COMMENT: The intention here is to “Solo” T2 (and mute T1. Canceling T2 seems a problem.

A similar sequence in 6x6 doesn’t solo a track but has another unexpected result. See below.

***************** 6x6 MODE:

  1. 0:00 Record 3 tracks on part 1

  2. 0:27 Select T2, using Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO “soloes” T2 and mutes T1 and T3

  3. 0:41 Select T2, using Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO unmutes T2 and plays T1 and T3

  4. 0:51 Select T2, using Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO “soloes” T2 and mutes T1 and T3

  5. 1:00 Select T3, using Playing Slideout Menu/ SOLO on T3 (already muted) unmutes ALL tracks.

Seems that selecting to solo an already muted track never does the solo but it has very different results in 2x2 and 6x6 modes.

Zip the file(s) and email them to support@singularsound.com

If the zipped file is too large, email a private YouTube link.

Not too keen on YT posting, but try this.

Gee.. you took me out of my confort zone…! with YT.

Not sure your posted videos are visible to other users.

I’ll try to do that. Meanwhile the main purpose was to illustrate to that 2x2 behaves differently from 6x6. If I was to choose, the intention of “soloing” a track - either a playing or a muted one - is to solo, so, choosing to “solo” a muted track should play that track and mute all the others (muted or playing).

Thank you! Could you please upload the video to Google Drive or Dropbox, or send it via WeTransfer to support@singularsound.com? Once I receive it, I’ll report this to our development team for review.
