Input routing question

New Aeros user here, I’m excited after my first dabbles with the device. Very glad I purchased this as my first independent looper device. I was intimidated by the complexity, but this is actually very intuitive for the basic things.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if this is currently possible: I plug vocals into main input L and guitar into main input R. I want both the dry vocal signal and recorded vocal loop to route to main output L. I want recorded guitar loop to route to main output R and dry guitar not come through at all.

In the routing settings, both main inputs and outputs are linked, so I have to have same setting for both. Unless I’m missing something?

I see a workaround in using aux input and output for either voc or guitar, because it has separate settings for routing. Would this work for my intended use (as long as I don’t want to use aux input for somethin else)?

Are there other workarounds that come to mind?

And are there plans to update the routing possibilities in the future to be able to set individual routing settings for main L and R inputs and outputs, and not have them always linked?

Also another thing I’d like to be able to do is to have midi command to stop input L (my vocals) from recording loops, while still letting the dry signal through. I can see this is not possible with the routing options, should I create a feature request for this maybe?

The idea is that I could use one of the main outputs from Aeros for my vocals and vocal loop, so I can have them on same channel in my mixer. And most of the time I don’t want my vocals to record into the loops, because I record mostly guitar loops while I sing a chorus of a song etc. But every once in a while I want to sing something to a loop, vocal harmony or percussive things.

And for the guitar routing thing, it’s just that I’d like to mix the Aeros recorded loop signal back into my dry guitar signal in my guitar effect and minimise A/D D/A conversions, and also I have XLR out in my guitar effect which makes life easier.

Edit: Now I see that all this should be doable if I use Aux in and out for either guitar or vocal. But it would still be nice to be able to do on the main inputs and outputs alone, so I could plug something else into Aux input in the future.

Hi there,

You’re exactly right! You can use the aux input, and alternatively, using a mixer before going into the Aeros will give you complete control over your panning.

As for future updates, the development team is continuously working on improving our products, but I don’t have specific details on when the next firmware update will be released or what it will include. The latest upgrade did include changes to the input controls that can be found in mixer 2.

For stopping your vocals or instrument from going through the input, I recommend using a microphone with a switch, or you can use a mixer or volume control.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

Thank you! This will work for me

I’d still like to make a feature request to have separate settings for L and R channels in main input and output. I think many people would be plugging two different instruments in L and R and might benefit from that like me. It would leave the aux in/out available for synth / pad or some other stereo instrument. Should I make a new topic in the feature request part of forum? It doesn’t really matter to me if such an update would come in months or years, but I’d like it to be on the list of considerations

I’m glad to hear this will work for you! Yes, please post a separate feature request for having distinct settings for the L and R channels in the main input and output.

Thank you, and if you have any more ideas or questions, feel free to share!

Hi Daniel, sorry for posting on this solved thread, but I’m hoping you can clarify something. Wouldn’t Brennan’s comment [Individual input sources to individual tracks] on this thread also serve as a work-around for Freakyloop?

I’m also in a similar boat (see my comment at the end of the linked thread for full context) and am trying to figure out the best way to approach this. Your response here was helpful in giving in alternative to what I believe to be basically the same question, but I do have a question concerning the solution you’ve given. How could one route a recorded track to the aux output specifically? I see in the manual “Aux In Routing”, but this appears to only apply to live input. Thank you!

Thank you for your question! Please send an email to support@singularsound.com, and I’ll be happy to help you resolve this.
