Merging BB1/BB2 content

This may be a question best answered by Support, support@singularsound.com or by a BB2 user that’s actually had success preserving their MIDI data with their conversion process from BB1 to BB2.

However, if I were to hazard a guess, your MIDI data could be preserved (with their respective MIDI position locator IDs) as long as they remain in the same location as they were in their BB1 project. The MIDI data is dynamic vs. static—it changes when a song or folder is moved.

I hope that any user that’s already successfully performed this replies to this post and tells us whether or not this works and if it didn’t, what they did to make it work.

If you are using the BBMO2, you would never want to sort songs or folders alphabetically. The MIDI position locator ID changes when the song or folder is moved.

  • Before you try anything, make sure you have a backup of your BB1 project on your computer as well as a backup of your BB1 SD card. Zip and keep the files separated from the main work area (desktop).
  • Convert the BB1 project on your computer using the BBMO2 beta following the instructions at BeatBuddy Manager Online BETA and save your project.
  • Compare that the MIDI position locator IDs remain the same in the BB2 project as they were in the BB1 project. If they do, you can assume that they should work with your MIDI controller or OnSong.
  • Before adding any content, test the newly converted BB2 project on the BB2 pedal and signal/data chain. Only then consider adding content to the BB2 project.
  • To add content, import folders and keep them at the bottom of the Songs List.
