Midi Maestro “Bricked”? Attempting First Update

Thanks for the feedback.

I don’t know that you’re missing anything.

Are you using the public or the developer beta 1 of iOS 26.4? The developer beta is still working for me using an iPhone however, when I tested with the iPad 26.4 developer beta, I still get the Transmit Error.

Try turning the pedal off and then back on and update the Default Modes and see what happens.

As soon as the developer beta 2 is released, I’ll test the Maestro and follow up to this thread.

I just tried updating the MIDI Maestro again and it failed with the same Transmission Error. :frowning:

Instead of providing updates on this topic that turn out to be wrong within a couple of hours or days, I’ll let Singular Sound tell us when they officially confirm that this has been resolved.

My apologies.

I’m using public developer beta 1. I’m getting a transmission error at 1%. The weird thing is I moved my scroll pedal across from the bottom left to the right and it created another fill where my scroll used to be. So instead of scroll, fill transition across the bottom 3 pedals I now have fill, fill, scroll. That’s a pain obviously as I use the scroll for UG but interesting that it dod do something. Back to my daughters ipad now. I just hope she hasn’t updated it yet !

Thanks for your ongoing support on this one !

I bought 2 of these things. They mostly collect dust since I bought my Morningstar controller. It seems I’m always coming back to these forums for the same exact problem each time there’s an IOS update. Every time I try to put these to some good use (like now), it’s nothing but transmission error troubleshooting. If you guys ever have the chance to use a Morningstar you’d see how it’s done right. Why can’t you use a web based midi editor?

Thanks to y’all’s suggestions I was able to update my brand new Midi Maestro’s firmware by using an older iPad. Now I could really use someone’s help to learn how to program this thing to control my MaestroDMX lighting system. No joy thus far, but more seriously I cannot even get the Midi Maestro to send info to MidiView from a custom command. Other built-in commands for Beat Buddy show up in MidiView. Don’t know what I’m missing. Thanks in advance!

I would recommend checking out this video to help with programming your Midi Maestro. If you have any further questions, feel free to email us at support@singularsound.com!

I have updated 2 iPhones to the 24.4 beta 1 and neither one will fix the Eeprom Invalid issue.

I returned my Midi Maestro to Sweetwater today. Just had more quirks than I care to deal with. I understand how tech aspects of bluetooth and IOS, but what I don’t get is physical manufacturing failure that placed the midi input/output jacks too deep in the chassis. I would never trust that midi cable connection to hold in a busy stage environment.

Midi connections are a frustration. It took me three weeks and four returns before I found the proper fit. Prince charming had an easier time finding someone to fit that glass slipper than I did finding Midi cables. lol

Yep. Tried iOS 26.4 numerous times - still an error message on the device. It’s unusable and they want me to pay for shipping ($17.00) to return it. Unbelievably unethical business practice.

The workaround isn’t that hard if you just want to use the MM for the BB or the AEROS. The custom modes would be a bit of a problem until Apple resolves the issue or Singular Sound figures out how to push firmware updates through the midi port via the AEROS as the master. The BB1 can connect to the computer as well. There should be a way to transfer file data and firmware to the MM using their other products as a conduit.
Very weird decisions for SS to make, that the BB1 has a USB port for data transfer. The AEROS has one as well and it doesn’t even need one, while the Midii Maestro who’s only function is a controller, deserved one the most, didn’t get one, and it was left off the Beat Buddy 2, for why? I’ll never understand, .

For such well-made products, the decisions that went into them are somewhat baffling.

Has this issue been resolved??? I’m on iOS 26.3 and having no luck connecting to the MM app.

No it’s not fixed. I’m giving this another couple of weeks before I return the MM it as it’s not working as advertised and while i’ve been getting around it by borrowing other people’s ipads, that’s not going to be an option for much longer. It’s a shame because it’s a decent unit but it’s of no use at all to me without the ability to customise it. Pointing fingers at apple isn’t good enough either. SS should be bending over backwards trying to get this resolved or a workaround in place but it feels like there’s no sense of urgency at all. Many of us have been patient up to now but mine are running out. Still being advertised as working with ios too and no warning for potential customers which is misleading at best and borderline false advertising at this point.

Typical for this company. I’m close to getting rid of all my SS, with the exception of the BB. I wish they would sell to a larger company who had the resources to make their products consistently work as advertised.
