Midi Maestro EEPROM INVALID error after firmware update

Tried updating my new MIDI MAESTRO from firmware 1.1.7 to 1.1.9 and it resulted in an invalid EEPROM error. Thought I had bricked the unit somehow. Then I found on the this forum that I had to subsequently, as a separate step, update the default modes from the app. I did that and it successfully unbricked the MIDI MAESTRO. Why the app doesn’t do both as part of the same process is kind of nuts, especially since there is no documentation (that I could find) that indicated that this had to be done.

It’s on p.36 of the Maestro User Manual.
