New Beat Buddy 2

Hi

I wonder if someone could confirm this for me but I have been pondering whether to pre order the Beat Buddy 2 bundle for the last few days.

I’m picking up learning guitar again (I’m not very good) and was looking for a device to help with my playing as metronomes seem boring and uninspiring to me. I have thought about the original Beat Buddy for a while now but when I saw the new version is going to be released it looked like a good idea to go for it until just now.

I have noticed that the price has slightly increased over the last few days as I have tried to work out if it will be any good for me as a beginner and a home user only. I have just also been reading the small print in the shipping section that the UK will need to pay VAT (20%) and I expect import duty (3.2%) on top of the price of the unit which then makes the bundle another £127 more expensive and very unattractive to the UK market.

Could someone please advise/confirm if

  1. The Beat Buddy 2 would be a good tool to help me with my learning?

  2. If I am correct in the fact that the VAT and import duty will apply or is it covered in the unit price.

Thanks for reading and any replies in advance.

Always check the current rules on the official UK customs website or in the seller’s terms and conditions to avoid unexpected charges.

Hi Marco76

Thank you for your reply and confirming about the Vat and Duty. This does make the new model very expensive for myself.

I have read that the original BB will not be getting any further firmware updates and you won’t be able to use some of the drum kits that comes with/are available to the BB2 and also autopilot seems it would be easier to use which is why I looking at it.

It’s really your decision .

I didn’t realise that, so I could save myself a small fortune without the wait. Thank you.

If you’re just looking for a metronome, maybe try to find a used BB Mini. I am personally not a fan of them, because I require a LOT(!!) more customization than they offer, but as a practice tool, they’re really well suited to the job.

Thank for the reply.

I think I would rather go for the full pedal version as I see the mini being a little bit more limited for the price. I have had a suggestion of trying the BB software first to see how I get on before buying anything.

I can’t tell you about the BB2, however I have a BB and play OP (one press) songs from the BB song list. I find it inspiring, humbling, and great fun. Most songs have all the various parts so you can sound like a whole band.

Thanks for the reply.

I like the idea of having a one press option but to be able to repeat sections would be good too so I can concentrate on one part of a song/exercise before moving on.

I have briefly used the BBOM software which is ok but webbased. I’m sure a pedal would be better rather than having to set up my slow old laptop everytime I want to practice something.

I would have bought this if I had seen any mention of it on the Singular Sound website. Instead I bought a second BB yesterday, which won’t play as well with the aeros that is on its way to me. Sadly not the best first impression of SS for me. What kind of company brings out updated products and doesn’t mention them on their homepage or website (unless you really dig)?

Some of the things I have noticed on the website with SS is a little confusing I must admit and the new model is supposed to be shipping this month but seeing that they haven’t sold the 500 new versions makes me wonder if they really wanted to sell them quickly.

Not having a tax free version to ship to other parts of the world i.e. UK made this new model very expensive to me (£531 with shipping then £127 on top in tax and import duty = £658) hence why I didn’t buy it in the end and I haven’t bothered to buy the old version either.

I am also finding the beatbuddy manager software a bit of a chore being online only and not convenient to just pick up my guitar and practice so I’m looking for different options now.

You can still download the BeatBuddy Manager 1.64 Legacy from the forum. It works entirely offline and is very convenient.

Why would the BB2 be better with the Aeros than the BB1?

Thank you. I didn’t realise you could download this.

We are releasing the BeatBuddy 2 in a limited run so our previous customers can get it first. If you’re interested, please email support@singularsound.com and I can provide more details.

Has anyone heard if a Beat Beat Mini update might be coming following the Beat Buddy 2 release?
