We’re constantly working to improve the BeatBuddy, and we’re excited to announce our next firmware update!

Thank you all for the great feedback and suggestions. We’ve listened carefully, and we’ve implemented many of the better suggestions and are working to implement more.

Here are the new improvements:

[]Count-in intro: This changes the intro to a single rim shot sound per beat. So if the song is in 4/4 time, it will play 4 rim shots to count you in before the main beat starts. This is very useful when playing with other musicians, so you can all start on time! Select:Settings > Main Pedal > Intro > Count in.
[]Disable default tempo: This will turn off the song’s default tempo, so when you are changing between songs, it will keep the tempo you set it at instead of changing to that song’s default tempo. This is very useful when you know the tempo of the song you want to play but are not sure which beat to use, so you can try many different beats quickly without having to adjust the tempo each time. Select: Settings > Main Pedal > Default Tempo > Disable.
[]Disable default drum set: This will turn off the song’s default drum set, so when you are changing between songs, it will keep the drum set you set it at instead of changing to that song’s default drum set. This is very useful when you know which drum set you would like to use (especially if you’re trying out a new drum set that you downloaded), but are not sure which beat to use, so you can try many different beats quickly without having to adjust the drum set each time. Select: Settings > Main Pedal > Default Drum Set > Disable.
[]Press Drum Set knob to set Default Drum Set: Now you can set the default drum set of a song by holding down the drum set knob, in the same way you can set the default tempo by holding down the tempo knob.
[]Added 0% and 100% in the cue fill period: At 0%, when the pedal is press the drumfill & transition always trigger immediately. At 100% the player always wait until the next bar before launching the drumfill & transition. Default is set to 0% so that fills and transitions are always triggered immediately. To change, select: Settings > Main Pedal > Cue Period
[]Support of External MIDI notes: Do you edit beats in other software and want to test it on the BeatBuddy without having to load it into a song? Do you have an Electronic drum set that you want to trigger better quality sound? Now if you stream MIDI notes into the BeatBuddy IN cable, the BeatBuddy will play those MIDI notes on the BeatBuddy’s ultra high quality drum sets!

[]When Cancelling a transition by pressing the main pedal, it was triggering an outro fill. It now cancels the transition.
[]It was necessary to wait a beat between triggering an outro with a double tap and cancelling the outro with another tap. Now it can be done immediately. As long as the triple tap stop option is disabled (it is by default). This allows much faster cancelling the outro when you double tap by mistake.
[*]Headphones volume screen was appearing at random times when the headphones volume was turned low. This is fixed.

It’s been a while since I’ve been in the forum and I just did the updates for the BeatBuddy and the Manager. I like the new controls and it seems to be working real good, I’m having fun that’s for sure

We are working on a new version of the firmware that includes many new cool features. We haven’t completed it yet 100%, but we do have a stable version (1.75) in the mean time, and I will be happy to provide you with it. Just email support@mybeatbuddy.com and I will give it to you.

The manual states that you can disable the tempo settings through Main pedal > Default tempo
but I can’t find “Default tempo” I just want to keep a tempo and find the right sound. Can anyone help?

Sorry i have a doubts
I´m conecting my Beat buddy pedal to a infinity looper and the infinity is recognize the tempo fine but when i´m stop the Beat Buddy the looper is still carry on, i think is something i have to change with my beat buddy. If is in my infinity looper dos you know what i have to change ?

I have a Boss-ES8 looper controller connect to my beat buddy by midi. The BB already recognize the tempo but i want o able to use the stop and go function. How do i know whitch midi channel number is my Beatbuddy and what is the Pc number to start and stop from the ES-8?

you have to press both (drum set and tempo) potis on BB, then go Main Pedal and then default tempo. There you`ll have to choose disable…

Thanks, I have version 1.2.9. Tried to down load 1.41 with mac through the BB - could connect though. Presume I need an SD card connector and try that, but then I use Infinity looper so looks like there could be more work ahead!

You’re right. You need to remove your SD card from the pedal and plug it into your Mac. If it’s a newer model, your Mac should have an SD card slot. Once you’ve unzipped the firmware file, you drag the 5 files to your SD card. When that’s done, be sure to eject the SD card from the Mac and plug it back into your pedal. The pedal should display that it’s updating your SD card–do not interrupt this process. Once done, you should be set.

The exciting news is that the latest beta firmware allows Mac users to plug their pedal directly into their Mac via a USB cable. There are a lot of other improvements coming. Ask BeatBuddy Support for the latest beta firmware version.

AFTER I updated to 1.4.1 the “headphone volume at 0%” began to block out the screen. I confirmed the firmware update in the “about BeatBuddy” menu. When I turn the headphone volume switch up this stops occurring.

Welcome, ab8cd. Since this is a known issue, you could do a couple of things:

• keep the headphone volume up all the way as you mentioned and wait for the release versions of the firmware and BB manager software or,
• ask Jay at the BB help desk <support@mybeatbuddy.com> for beta versions of the software and this will help to resolve the problem

I’ve updated my beatbuddy firmware to the newest (email - sent) firmware, but the 500 midi note limit still exists… I also updated the bb manager on my pc…

I just installed 1.76 and I LOVE the visual tempo bar scrolling prior to tapping into a set. It really helps me to set a tempo seeing movement rather that just a number. Thanks!

I need a firmeware (i have 1.76) to make a program change an MIDI start and stop by CC for a live shows to control with my MIDI footswitch controller… When these upload it will e ready? I really need it… Pleaseeee!!

I just downloaded the firmware and had the same problem with the infinity looper as was mentioned earlier. I had to go into the looper app and tick the box to ignore midi notes. It was mentioned earlier that the default setting for BB would be off for midi notes. Did I not update something properly or was the “off by default” option not implemented? I have only just got the looper and so can’t say how well it works at all settings, but just as a basic one or two loop machine the syncing is great with the BB.

I just updated the bb firmware and then found that it would not work with my infinity looper. I also had to tick the ‘ignore midi notes’. I guess either the ‘off by default’ option was not implemented or not effective. Thanks to the forum for posting the solution to this problem. I never would have figured that out on my own.
