I’ve examined the Beatbuddy FB page, the website, the forum on the issue of when the MAC Software is expected to be released from the Company, and the latest is 2/1/15 and a probable slip to 3/1/15 (based on a user post to the forum). The latest response I received from the FB page was referring me to the MAC Beta software developed by a user (this thread). Options:
[]The Beatbuddy management take responsibility to provide status when the Company software for the MAC will be complete and provide updates on this Forum, their Website download page, (which directs people to this thread currently), and their FB page
[]Customers can continue to work the Beta as best as they can, (thanks “D”)
[]Customers can also respond honestly and factually to their own music community who may be potential customers when asked about the Beatbuddy. If those inquiring have a MAC, customers can respond that apparently the Company software is not ready and there is no firm date when it will be. I know it’s definitely in Beatbuddy’s best interests to finish the software as this impacts sales, reviews and ultimately their bottom line.
[]Also customers can provide review input based on their experience
I’ll await Beatbuddy’s response via my various inquiries.
As per usual, your guess would be… wait for it… something you made up!
Ah, well. Keep whining. It’ll get you far in this life.
Where is the ignore button?
Chris: the interesting thing is that the lack of software does not affect the magazine reviews because not one reviewer has tried to work with the software. They all review the hardware which is pretty sweet. I’ve not yet seen a mention of this software other than to repeat Singulair’s advertising. I don’t recall the advertising ever having an asterisk where they mentioned that the software was not yet available, was in beta or otherwise. It always just said what you can do with the included software.
I found the ignore button, but before I go there:
In the interest of full disclosure, when did you get your beat buddy?
Do you have any affiliation with the company?
Any video of you using your BB?
No, I don’t have any affiliation. I bought it off the internet, ironically when a drummer friend of mine “liked” it on FB. I’m just reaching out to see when the MAC version of the software will be available, because I suspect I need the manager to set up a song list that I can tap through, and I don’t want to use the Beta version, work arounds, etc. Had I investigated further, I would have delayed my purchase. I can only share my story when asked by other musician friends or on social media when given the opportunity, hoping this will prompt Singulair to give status and hurry up the release.
Could be wrong but I think that the ignore button just prevents the ignoree’ from PM’ing you or something but you’ll still have to be annoyed with his game on here. This guy is a troll plain and simple. You state indisputable facts and he keeps repeating that you’re pulling them out of your hind quarters like a broken record. I paid for mine a year ago too and yes, the Mac software was part of the pitch. It’s been a whole freeking year now and still no official Mac manager from the “team” they allegedly hired to develop it. What we get is a volunteer user coded beta? Sorry Def, not a slam on you; what you’re doing is commendable. But since when do real business’ rely on volunteers from the user base to do their most critical product development? I’ve never heard of such a thing. And their “business” ceases to be just their “business” after taking the customers’ money for something and failing to deliver on it for an entire year after putting the money in the bank. What’s not to understand about CUSTOMERS getting a little antsy after a whole year of this smoke and mirrors act? Plus the silence just exacerbates the frustration. And Mr. Troll, enjoy responding to this if it thrills you (oh, I know it will), but know that I won’t be responding back no matter how much you try to push my buttons to pull me in. I’m not actually addressing you here. But I will right now: pal, you are way off base.
We are not relying on any volunteers to do our work for us. We have a software development team that is working on the Mac version of the BeatBuddy Manager. Once they finish developing it, we will release it.
Finalizing it is definitely taking longer than we expected. We agree. We are not going to deny that fact. It is important for everyone reading this to understand that we want to have the Mac version out as soon as possible! We are quite aware of the very large Mac user base that currently own BeatBuddys. We will keep everyone updated the moment an update becomes available.
What Daefecator has done is indeed very commendable! He volunteered to take the unfinished version that our software team developed, and to create an unofficial (but fully functional) version of the software. In this situation, we have three choices:
-
Wait for the software development team to finalize the Mac version of the software (which is taking longer than expected), with nothing available for Mac users in the mean time.
-
Release the unfinished software in its current state, which contains bugs that we would need to fix (and this would bring a whole host of issues on its own).
-
Allow a volunteer that has the time, resources, and relevant knowledge to help create a functional version of the software while we wait for the official and final version to be released.
We made a judgement call and decided that the third option is the best choice between the three available.
@BeatBuddy Support -
I get all that but we can only speculate when there is a void of transparency and you know what dark thoughts are going to creep in when we’re left to fill in the blanks ourselves. My post above is really 20% fueled by this lack of transparency and 80% a reaction to the troll who keeps countering peoples valid gripes with his passive aggressive “oh just shut up and chill” mantra. Apparently his trolling worked on me as it drew that visceral reaction out of me. Repeatedly DavidE and others have made clear reasonable expressions of our collective frustration and this guy keeps jumping in and insinuating that if you’re not rolling over then you need to learn to be more mellow like him. Yeah, I know he never actually said that but it’s the underlying theme of his trolling. However, if you guys would do a better job of keeping us informed of the progress, that would go a long way towards keeping peace in the valley.
I really appreciate this response. My personal action will be to wait for option one, but I know others may act differently. I’ll now await your status as you progress and I take you at your word. Thanks for taking responsibility Beatbuddy Support, I’ll refer to you as BBS for short!
Thanks BBS.
But…(there’s always a but).
So you give some random guy (sorry Daef - illustrative purposes ), an unfinished Alpha/Beta and he quickly whips up a perfectly usable release. Meanwhile, the persons you are paying…well you can see were this is going.
It’s just sort of amusing actually.
Note: I’m assuming they are getting payed. Maybe they are volunteers. It would explain some things
Yeah. I’M the troll.
You admit to speculation and “dark thoughts creeping in” - EXACTLY what I’m saying is going on - but when I point it out, it’s trolling.
Lord, the definitions have changed. The guys making stuff up, like, “Oh, Daef, your post MUST mean that there is no one working on the Mac version” and demanding answers and thinking they have the right to demand a private company behave how they think they should and stuff like that, completely void of any sort of evidence, they’re NOT trolling. They’re just “speculating” and “letting dark thoughts creep in”.
But when I say "Hey, you guys might not want to post things based on “dark thoughts creeping in” and “It’ll be out soon, I’m sure. Have a little patience and maybe TRY to be nice”, I’m a troll. Ridiculous.
No wonder they’ve decided not to engage those of you that are so entitled, they’re willing to attack anyone that dares disagree. I know I wouldn’t if I were in their position! If disagreement means people rewriting reality and saying awful thing for no reason other than “I’m not getting my way and I don’t want to hear anything different”, then why would you expect ANYONE to even try to explain things to you?
It’s sad, 'cuz this is such an amazing product and it HAS to be disheartening for the team to see this sort of behaviour and attitude.
Oh, and “passive aggressive”? You might want to look up what that means. Your very obvious ignorance of the meaning of that phrase shows that you’re simply lashing out because you don’t like what I have to say… even though you admit that what I’m saying is correct.
Awesome. The “Ignore” function actually does work. Bye, bye Trollie.
Well done, proving my point. Sad.
That is correct, and we were just as impressed as you are.
Working with the software was easy as I am actually pretty used to do such things. Editing the firmware is much more hard but cool and fun as this is totally new for me!
P.s.: Has DavidE got banned? I swear I’m not involved this time!!
I for one really appreciate the beta you released. Life is not perfect I wish the world could all be nice to each other but I’m dreaming. We have what we have and I can work with it till the bugs are fixed and it works 100% I am finding it very usable in its current state so big thanks again
Wait. Was this to me?
In case it was:
A few months ago.
No, I do not. I simply like the product and have done since I first saw it online in December 2013. I have met some of the principals, at the NAMM show.
Nope. Not yet. I’m a professional entertainer, working 6 nights a week. I haven’t had a chance to work the BeatBuddy into my show yet.
Not sure what ANY of that, other than #2, have to do with anything… but I guess we all lash out when desperate.
Daefecator,
Thank you for your time and commitment. It’s great to see that you have been all over the BB and forums from day one.
On more of a positive note from the above forum room brawl, anyone that has ever been an early adopter of any new technology, knows that there are always a little growing pains. A little patience and trust can go a long way. If you don’t have these qualities, you should do yourself a favor and wait about 3-5 years.
So, I’ve had multiple technical issues to even get the programs open with both MAC and PC. Since I’d prefer the MAC route, I was wondering if anyone could help me. Here is my screen shot. The process just stalls and never completes. Any ideas? I’m going to free up a bit of memory and see if that helps, but other than than, I’m stumped.
Thanks again!
Ryan
No idea sorry never seen a readout like that so what are you trying to do just open the program, i assume you have tried a reinstall. Mine works perfect well not perfect but at least it opens what OS version are you one?
