Clipping after saving a song

Hi,
I’ve encountered an issue with the aeros when saving a song which includes a loop/track which has several overdubs (drum track with bass, snare, hi-hat etc.). It was sounding ok before saving the song but after saving, the track with the overdubs suddenly started clipping (only the snare drum is clipping).
Before saving the song the last overdub with the snare drum was recorded. Maybe merging the last overdub in the save process is causing this behaviour?!

Aux-In Stereo was used for the drum track (Roland SP-404 mkII)
Firmware 5.2.1

Sorry for the inconvenience! This bug has been addressed in the latest firmware, which is currently available in beta.

Cool! When will it be released officially (via WiFi update)?

Sorry, my previous response was incorrect. I confused it with another issue addressed in the latest firmware update.

The issue is likely that they are recording at too high a level. It could also be that the output level from their device is pro-level audio (+4dBu) instead of consumer-level (-10dBV). The Aeros is designed to work with quieter signals, like those coming directly from an instrument.

The best solution is to lower the source level, adjust the input level on the Aeros (found in Mixer 2), and possibly reduce the Playback Level Calibration. You may also want to try the Instrument option in the Main Input Load setting to add more impedance to the signal. Both of these settings can be found in the System Settings menu.

But it only starts clipping after saving the song - before saving it was sounding like it should. If you can’t hear it clipping after recording a track and only after saving a song then this device is not reliable.

Something is happening when saving an overdubbed track - it maybe adds some db when merging the last overdub and then it starts clipping when it is near the clipping level?

The input volume is not the problem. I guess each overdub adds some db to the track (when not using loop-decay). But when saving the song somehow more db is added when merging the last overdub.

If I find some time I will try to reproduce this issue on video.

I have finally found some time to reproduce the issue. In the video when recording the track it sounds alright. But after saving clipping appears.

Please find attached a zipped video clip which shows the issue.

Thank you for sending over the video. I would recommend lowering the input level to avoid clipping, as it looks like the track is being recorded too hot. With the overdub, this can cause clipping. By reducing the input level and adjusting the drum machine volume, this should resolve the issue.
