Midi Maestro “Bricked”? Attempting First Update

So would the consensus be to avoid upgrading to the new firmware until AFTER Apple have fixed it?

I have the MM Gold but it is on an older firmware version.

Did you mean to say Apple?.
Trying to update the MM firmware from Apples 26 to 26.2 Operating system will lock your MM device.‘EEPROM INVALID’ Unless you have an Android or an Iphone or iPad with a lower operating system to reinstall a versions of the MM software firmware it will render your MM unusable. Re-attempting to update the firmware using Apple’s operating system 26 to 26..2 will lock your MM making it unusable. I heard the operating system 18 on an Apple would work fine. I used a firmware update from an old iPad using operating system 12 and I got the older firmware version to install. Note: If you use someone else’s phone or iPad to update the firmware the MM firmware will be updated, but you’ll still have no way of customizing the MM after that without the device you used to update it’s firmware. Whatever you do, don’t try updating the firmware using Apple‘s operating system 26 to 26.2

Yep, fixed

So is the pedal just bricked for the time being? I never got use this thing once. It seems that there needs to be a way to connect it to a computer rather than just the phone app since this has seemed to have been a problem for many years every time when Apple updates their iOS. Is there a way to just reset the pedal to factory settings.

Not to worry. I sent a message to Apple as suggested by SS. I’m sure that will fix it. I’m sure SS is also notifying prospective buyers of MM that the App isn’t currently working on Apple devices.

A bit of Googling and it might appear IOS 26 has affected many users of other devices as well, so perhaps Apple will be addressing this quicker than if it was just an isolated issue to Maestro users.

I’ve posted my review of MM to the SS website.

I am having the same issue now. It looked like it updated and now I am getting the transmission error. Tried toggling the severity and privacy setting in IOS and no dice. Any updates?

This has bricked my unit all during the holidays. Don’t blame apple fix your app! Heading to NAMM and will see how that goes.

Just bough the MM to find out that it doesn’t work with iPhones and for months now this issue is not being fixed?
Reverting IOs is not possible so?

I know, the answer I got was basically “it’s an Apple problem”. Not an us problem. :man_shrugging:

Yeah, every time I attempt to update the firmware it bricks. I use an ancient iPad to recover the MM from death with an older firmware version.
Ironically, singular Sound keeps sending me an email to write a review about this product. lol

Can’t firmware updates be sent through MIDI ?
Why can’t there be a secondary way to perform these firmware updates with the Midi Maestro using the computer via the midi ports, after all, it is a midi maestro.

Apple has not resolved the Bluetooth connectivity issue in the latest iOS 26.3 developer beta 2 update. If you’ve already submitted a report using the Feedback app or via the web site, it might not hurt to do so again. The squeakiest wheels usually get the grease  And if you have not yet submitted a report, please help get Apple’s attention by submitting a report.

If you’re not using a beta or developer beta of the iOS or iPad iOS, or don’t have access to the Feedback Assistant, use the Apple online feedback page to report a bug Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Here’s an example of what to say:
