Opening BBMO Beta brings up Error prompt

Having just purchased my new Beat Buddy 2 and Super-switch and I am new to all things Singular Sound. My mission is to program and “Autopilot”, 3 sets of songs to use live. The first couple of times of logging into BBMO Beta, I had no issues. But for a week now, I have been getting a prompt just before the BBMO loads. :backhand_index_pointing_down:

bbmo-beta.dyhfwrcznxkz3.amplifyapp .com
says Unable to load project
TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading ‘toLowercase’)

If I ignore and click “OK”, the BBMO seems to open with no apparent issues. I have tested 12 songs in a set folder by moving the SD card over to the Beat Buddy 2 and it seems to work perfectly. My fear is that somewhere down the road, this is going to come back to bite me in the a** and void all the programming of drums for my gig. As of now, I’m ignoring it and making back-ups. Anybody know a remedy to this ERROR prompt? Thanks!

A post was split to a new topic: BB2 Glitches with super switch and premium beats 79

Hello AngryColon,
I’m experiencing the same issue with identical symptoms. I’ve used the BeatBuddy 2 for a couple of gigs without any problems and absolutely love the pedal! Unfortunately, I haven’t found a solution yet, but I wanted to confirm that the “‘toLowercase’ message isn’t an isolated case. I share your concerns about potential future consequences, though for now it’s working fine. Thanks for bringing this up—I’m backing up my data as well.

I experienced this issue one time when first using the BBMO beta. I opened the project from my SD card when I was first setting everything up. My project is now saved locally on my computer and not in the cloud.

I have not experienced the symptoms you are reporting since that first time. It does prompt me to ask, though: are either of you opening your projects directly from your SD cards or the cloud? If you are, you might want to save you project to your computer—I have mine saved on my desktop.

Thanks Persist! I am saving to the SD Card and thought that is what we were supposed to do. If there is a way to save it to the computer or cloud, I would rather do that. For now, I am saving to the SD card… copying the SD card to my computer, and using the computer-stored file to create backup SD cards… … love to hear a better way!

Check out the “Setting Up for the First Time” section which will give you the general idea.

This works best when you’re starting from scratch, like, with a brand new default project 2.1. If you already have made and saved edits to your project on the SD card, this is how I would go about tweaking the process.

  1. Start with having the BBMO 2 beta closed.
  2. Create a new folder on your desktop and name it after your project.
  3. Select and copy all of the files in your SD card and paste to your project on your new desktop folder (you can also drag the files from your card to the folder).
  4. Launch the BBMO beta and press Open Project; navigate to and select the project folder on your desktop; press Select; your project should open.
  5. From now on, this should become the default location from where you manage your project content; you will Sync to SD Card and you can also Sync to your backup SD cards.

Why does the error message happen in the first place? I’m kind of spitballin’ when I say I think it’s because there may be some slight latency between the BBMO beta accessing and then reading the content of your SD card. The latency may cause the BBMO beta to display that message; when you press OK, the BBMO 2 beta goes about its business of opening the project from the SD card (or the cloud). Now, on to the subject of “the cloud.” Some, but not all users have reported issues when managing projects saved on the cloud. The issues also seem to be latency-related and perhaps a little more severe in that project data is either not saved to the cloud or it’s incomplete. This was previously reported by some Apple users using iCloud instead of saving locally (to their desktops). The latency is further exacerbated when synching a project from the cloud to an SD card (which is slower than the speed of a hard drive or SSD). For this reason, I don’t save project data to iCloud.

Hopefully the developers are aware of the issue and will fine tune the BBMO 2 beta enroute to the official release of the BBMO 2.

Please let us know if you continue to have issues. Screen shots of any messages will be helpful as well.
