UnBricked BB1 and loaded 4.1.7, getting ready to use the new BB hardware

Catching up on my BB skills from 1/2025. Just spent about 4-5 hours trying to catch up on threads/changelogs. THX in ADV- not too quick with all of this: (Using Win64) I bricked my BB1 last night upgrading to FW 4.1.7 . I was able to recover my BB1-image. I went ahead and ordered a BB2 from Sweetwater, I had planned anyway. :right_facing_fist: SW Dev is challenging (HW also) ………………. Confirming v1.5.4, v1.5.5 and v1.5.6 web access has ended, the site uses 2.X - 1.5.6 is gone? :right_facing_fist: - Touching Def Content 2.1 after FW 4.1.7 is required (update it) :right_facing_fist: -My project is old, on my SD. I have used v1.5.5 before I am sure, but better safe than sorry, see BBMO-beta/39519 . My backup is dated 11/24, nothing new. Again - I do need to update my Def 2.1 files for BBMO future use. see Parsing-errors-bbmo/41310 -

Question(s): For BB1 → I just delete the SONGS folder inside my SD. And Sync the project from the BBMO again will create the missing SONGS folder with the updated content. For the BB1 this is all that needs to be done? I Don’t need to copy over my workspace. Question: Do not use legacy BBM 1.65 exe to sync projects, at all. It’s retired! Further - When I get the BB2 I just need to toggle the BBMO BB2 Mode to use it. I am prepping to use the BB2 now and retire the BB1, am I on the right track?

Don’t use your computer OS to manage songs, folders, projects and drum sets. You should be able to sync your project but you would be much better off on this first go around to use the BBM or BBMO to Export your project to your SD card.
You do not need to copy your bbworkspace folder or anything else.

You can use the BeatBuddy Manager (BBM) however, you’ll probably be better off using the BBMO.

Yes, but you might want to

  1. Download and read the BBMO User Manual before doing anything else
  2. Make a backup copy of your BB1 project and maybe zip and save it to a safe place.
  3. Follow the directions from the BB2 and BBMO user manuals to start off on the right foot.

From the BBMO Beta link in the post DavidP says. Maybe the context is old…. Other than I was going to use your procedure update my Default-2.1-Content after the flash of the BB1.

“If you already had content loaded by BBMO v1.5.5 on your BeatBuddy, just Delete the SONGS folder inside your SD card using your computer. Syncing the project from the BBMO again will create the missing SONGS folder with the updated content”

Thank you for putting it in context and from the source—that’s helpful. By all means, please follow David’s suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback.

To follow up, the BB2 has not arrived…….. What I did was I took my current older 2.1 content from my flash harddisk, opened the content up on the AWS Singular Sound web site for BBMO, syncd the data to a different new 32 gig SD card, booted 4.1.7 BB1 pedal with the content using the Vivalda Win browser. This effectively, FWICT updates or assures the files are updated when you sync to the SD from BBMO. I have no other files or dependencies within my folders that I care about. I will see, thanks…..
