What Church Songs Work with which BB setting?

I noticed that a number of suggestions haven’t been added to the first post. Anyone know if @Pstrdenver is planning to update the list again? Or should a new list, file, post, excel doc be created that we can all update somehow?

I think that Singular Sound has become the caretaker for this list and it sadly no longer seems to be kept current.

Where did you get the “4 count” on the forum?

I’ve copied the first post into this Word doc, added in new songs from this thread, and sorted the numbering so that a extra number is automatically added for new songs. I’ve raised the question in the BeatBuddy Worship Facebook group about having a single file (Word or Excel) for all the song suggestions. Thoughts?

The zipped the file is in a post below.

This might help: http://forum.mybeatbuddy.com/index.php?threads/intro-tap-to-start-of-song.6399/#post-26514 post #2

You can upload a file if it’s zipped or a pdf.

Thanks, that link to the resources was really helpful! I presume I can import them somehow into a song? Still learning how to do that!

I have zipped the file and uploaded - thanks for that too!

A couple of different ways to import:

  • import them as part of the Intro section to a song using the BBM; this doesn’t require a DAW
  • if you want a One Press Bass (OPB), add them to the beginning of a song with a DAW

I have no idea what a DAW or a OPB is! If you have time, I wouldn’t mind knowing.

If you would like more details than what I provide below, you might enjoy exploring this forum

The OP in OPB refers to one press; the default BeatBuddy songs have multi-sections and requires users to do the “toe dance” on their pedal; ingenious users came up with a way of reducing songs to a single press to minimize the toe dance. The B in OPB refers to songs that include bass guitar notes. To play these songs, you will need to download and install

  • the latest version of the BBM app and the firmware;
  • drum sets with bass as well songs with bass (found within the Resources section of this forum)

DAW stands for digital audio workstation and is software that allows you much better control over editing and creating your own beats for BBM. A good starter app is Beat Builder which can be found here on the forum.

DAW = Digital Audio Workstation - Think of this as the latest, digital version of a multi-track recorder. In addition to “audio” tracks which are like the old fashion tracks recorded through a microphone, you can also synchronize MIDI tracks which are digitally sequenced rather than recorded. A special type of MIDI track is the Drum Track (usually on MIDI channel 10) where each note (C, C#, D#, E, F, etc.) represents a different drum. Most DAWs are overkill for creating BeatBuddy patterns because they have a lot of extra stuff that you don’t need, but if you already have a DAW, then chances are you can use it to create custom BeatBuddy patterns if you set things up right.

OPB = “One Press with Bass” - A “One Press” BeatBuddy song is one where you only press the BeatBuddy to start it. After that, all of the transitions happen automatically. Originally the BB couldn’t do this because there was a 500 event (note) limit on each song part. Now that the limit has been removed people can create one long “part” which is actually the entire song. A “One Press with Bass” song uses a special drum set where some of the “drums” are actually samples of a bass playing different notes. There are some kits “with bass” that also include guitars playing chords.

Currently there is no officially supported drum kit with bass. Nor are there any officially supported “one press” songs. All “one press” songs, “one press with bass” songs, and “kits with bass” are currently only community supported, but the community support is pretty good.

FYI, I’ve developed the following reference chart for the mini. Hope some of you find it helpful.

hello, new guy here time to bring out a shovel and dig this up… since I’m intrigued by the beat buddy

I attend a very small church with no drummer and all guitarists (4 guitars 1 bass… a piano player every once in awhile) and i am not a worship leader so I am wanting to know if theses songs that are listed will work with the mini or will I be better off getting the regular?

really not looking to spend $300.00+ when i can pick up a mini for a $100… not even sure this would work for our set up so a $100 risk is better for me since it’s my purchase and not the church’s.

but if these general settings can be used quickly for the mini I can start suggesting some songs to at least help out with P&W

The mini would be ok if you just want basic beats. The full pedal lets you customize beats and even extra instruments such as bass, piano, organ, or any other midi instrument.

I’m also a worship leader in a small church. I purchased the full BeatBuddy ($300), because of the loadable playlists using the SD card, shareable files, and the community support – Most of the files and configurations users share can only be used on this device.

The mini will work as long as you keep the same beat/setting for your whole worship set – which doesn’t give you the flexibility the as BeatBuddy.

Here are my recommendations for P&W Leaders:

  1. Purchase the BeatBuddy (forgo the Mini)
  2. Purchase the Switch Peddle (allows for easy switching between songs in the play list AND accent cymbals)
  3. Join Facebook Group BeatBuddy Worship – A growing community of worship leaders with BeatBuddy’s, sharing experiences and files pertaining to Praise and Worship.

Hope this recommendation helps.

I just bought a used full Beatbuddy for Worship. Did alot of research and the mini would just be too restrictive, unless you just want basic sounds. The FB Beatbuddy Worship Forum is where the action is if you are a worship leader. I am pretty proficient at computer stuff and am planning on building song files for more modern worship stuff if there is not already one out there. Since the BB used midi files should be pretty easy to chop up and get it into the BB- just a bit time consuming. Guitarpro is pretty popular and those worship song files can be exported to midi and then brought into an editor like BeatBuiilder and chopped up to song parts.

Great collection you have created. Would you be willing to share any of your files? Looking for Spirit Break out in particular. I’m new with the beatbuddy and I’m just trying to get my feet on the ground. Thanks for considering. Jim

The reference is actually saying that is the built-in BB song he uses for that song - Blues 2. If you are looking for some further help on Worship related songs , check out the Beatbuddy Worship Facebook page too as there is alot of custom created stuff and more modern stuff.

Thank you for the reply.
Does anybody have a suggestion for Deep Cries Out, by Bethel Music?

I play drums for that song at church and it should just be a straight 16th note rhythm at a faster tempo (I think about 140-150 bpm) for the chorus parts.

For the verses its just a kick drum and HH 8th notes, and then some toms added at the prechorus (maybe one of the Roc toms songs). An off the shelf BB song will not have all those variations, but you should be able to piece together a custom song with existing song parts already in the BB with no need to bring in any other beats/sounds.

Playaround with Pop 11 and Rock 12, maybe changing drum sets. You probably could put something together with those 2 and one of the toms beats.

Appreciate your reply. I’ll have to play around with it.
