More than 5 years ago, users started asking for panning as a feature request, and 3 years ago,@BrennanSingularSound said that “the work on the mixer page is ongoing and we will have more news soon on panning.” (I would include links, but the site won’t allow me.)
Is there any news or plan for this feature to ever come to light, or has it been dropped or put on the back burner indefinitely? Brennan, I know you cannot make promises about anything or give a definite timeframe, but any indication of whether we can reasonably hope to see this feature in the foreseeable future would be appreciated!
Yes, the first result is the initial request thread I mentioned, and then there is another one from 3 years ago where Brennan said he would soon have news about it, but then never gave any…
A new mixer has been implemented in version 5.2.1.
Could you please clarify what you mean by panning exactly and what you’re hoping to achieve? Based on that, we can let you know if it’s possible on the Aeros, if it’s under consideration, or suggest any potential workarounds.
The ability to pan individual tracks during playback, a la the EHX 95000. I already know what the current capabilities of the Aeros are and what the potential workarounds are, so I’m really just looking for an answer about whether Singular Sound is still planning to add this specific feature.
I would add that not only should we be able to pan the tracks during playback, but also if they are mono tracks. That does not sounds too extravagant for a mixer, but might be difficult to implement for a looper.
That means the musician using the pedal probably does not have a mixing console in his pocket to help with panning. Even if he had, he would need to have the panning moving for each track, it’s not easy. And that would be definitive also, so no room for error or polishing either.
Now you are offering a staggering 6 tracks.
How do 6 stereo tracks stacked upon each other sound if you don’t pan them properly? Bad. They sound bad.
Now why singular sound people would want their customers to sound bad?
No, you want listeners to be amazed by those on-the-fly musical creations. You want to implement playback panning
My wish would be to be able to create a template with the 6 tracks already pre-panned, so that as the layers are added, the sound will be immediately great, it will sound professional.
100% agree with all of that. It’s a pretty standard and important feature on multitrack recorders with more than 4 tracks. The EHX 45000 and 95000 have it. The Boss RC600 has it. I am really puzzled by @DanielSingularSound and @BrennanSingularSound acting like this is just another annoying little niche feature request that doesn’t even warrant any further update two years after it was previously talked about, and 5 years after it was originally talked about. Could you guys give us at least a little bit more info besides just linking to an old post?
I just came back (this week, after 2 years of it on my unused pedals shelf) to trying to use the aeros, and the lack of post record panning just absolutely frustrates me every time I go beyond 2 tracks.
I’m still kind of shocked that @DanielSingularSound didn’t deign to write a real response to this very legitimate, longstanding request that the company had previously signaled they were working on and haven’t followed through on.
@DanielSingularSound, I don’t understand why you guys even have this forum at this point because you act so put-off and can’t-be-bothered by your users’ questions and requests (which aren’t even that many; it’s not like this forum receives a ton of traffic and activity). I’ve never seen such a dismissive and indifferent attitude from a gear company toward its customers. And I say this as not just a user, but someone who runs a gear channel on YouTube and has done work for other gear companies.
To be clear: I’m not just talking about this post or request. I’ve been in this forum a while, and I routinely see replies from staff and mods that sound dismissive, indifferent, bothered, and sometimes downright passive aggressive toward user questions and requests. I belong to other companies’ forums and Discord servers, and I’ve literally never seen anything like it. I really think some of the people who work for you need to work on their communication style.
I asked about this years ago too; to me it seems like a really basic function on a looper... and very easy to program. It's incomprehensible that it's not already there.
We definitely understand the desire for this feature, and we do apologize for any frustration you have encountered over it not yet being added to the Aeros.
We are a small company with limited resources for development. Despite the development costs, we are singular in our mission of updating our products and have also done more updates and added more features to our products than any other hardware company that I can think of. That being said, we need to constantly be evolving and working on new products, and this requires balancing the work we do on each product.
Daniel is well regarded in the community as a great help and is widely adored by many customers, and, furthermore, many customers generally laud our support. I will speak with him about how we could have handled this better, as we never want to give the impression that we don’t care about customers’ feedback.
To affirm what has already been stated: This feature is not currently a priority, but we may still do it. We appreciate your candor, and we understand that this comes from a place of passion for your art and our products.
That being said, our forum has rules to ensure it is a positive and useful tool for our customers. We always take criticism, but we expect it to be constructive. This post is breaking the rules of the forum, as it is also a duplicate of the original request:
Constructive criticism towards each other as well as towards Singular Sound is more than welcome on this forum (in fact, we thrive on it), but constructive is the keyword here.
Constructive criticism means that the post has the intention of helping to solve a problem in a calm and respectful manner.
Before making a post, please use the search function to see if it has already been answered. It very likely has been. Duplicates will be tagged duplicate, and will be either closed or deleted.
For these reasons, I will be unlisting and locking this post, any further relevant posts for the mixer can be directed to the official request, and if you have more direct feedback, please feel free to email support@singularsound.com
Breaking any of these rules may result in the topic being unlisted, the topic or reply being deleted, or in extreme cases suspension/banning of the individual from the forum.
